Well now we have Pioli and Rodney Harrison on one side, Tony Dungy and Hines Ward to offset too much Pats-centric bias, and hopefully that much less of Peter King talking about coffee.

Pioli joins NBC's Football Night in America | National Football Post

Former Kansas City Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli will serve as a studio analyst for NBC's Football Night In America, the network announced on Monday.

Pioli was a member of the front office of the New England Patriots during three of the team's Super Bowl victories, and has more than two decades of experience as a football executive. He will also make appearances on the NBC Sports Network as well.

I don't understand how Scott Pioli doesn't have a job as a GM. Every single person in Football when asked about the Kansas City Chiefs last year said they were one of the most talented teams in Football. Clearly Pioli did his job on that front.

If part of the GM's job is to install capable coaches and an overall favorable coaching situation, then Pioli abysmally failed on that front. The coach-and-OC carousel basically ruined Cassel and set the franchise back a few years.

I also suspect that Lamar Hunt may have responded to the fact that Pioli completely lost the fanbase. While that frequently doesn't correlate at all with on-field results (lots of fans wanted Belichick gone early in the 2001 season), some owners do care about it.

This is a much easier gig than he is used to...

Good for him, wonder how many Belichick questions he will have to answer??

Hines Ward? Gag me with a spoon. I'll still plan to be doing something else until kickoff and during halftime...
...but if a Pats victory precedes it, then I'll watch the postgame show.

Is this serious? His drafts were horrible. Tyson Jackson, Jon Baldwin, Gilbert Arenas, Dexter McCluster were all busts where they were taken. Cassel was a huge mistake. 2 coaching hires were disasters. They were 2-14 and of the 6 pro bowlers, 5 were brought in pre Pioli.
