Patriots placekickers of the past

During many periods of Patriots History We have enjoyed a very stable kicking situation lead by the likes of Gino Cappaletti,John Smith,Tony Franklin,Matt Bahr,Adan Vinatieri, and now Steve Gostkowski.
We have also gone through stages when the kicking situation was a revolving door.Let's try to compile a list of those "other guys" who have worn our fingernails down to the nub.I think some of the names on this list will surprise You.Let's get started After Gino some of the luminaries included,Charlie Gogolak who was a pretty good kicker,Nick Lowrey,yes the same Nick Lowrey who starred in Kansas City but at the time was a recent Dartmouth Graduate who was working as a bartender at Fathers in Harvard Square and had worked until 2 AM the night before He began his Patriots Career at 1PM Sunday Afternoon.There was a guy named Posey ( I can use some help here) who on a snowy afternoon against Buffalo Kicked The Patriots into The Playoffs.There was Mike Superfoot" Walker, and Scott Missin Sisson.Can anyone else name a few?

I can't add any more names, but I'll do my part by providing stats for some of the guys you mention:

Charlie Gogolak played in 55 games and had a career FG% of 56% (52 of 93)

Nick Lowrey was a good kicker who played in 260 games and had a carrer FG% of 80% (383 of 479)

Now, to some of the "stars":

David Posey played in 11 games in 1978 and was 11 for 22.

Mike Walker played in eight games in 1972 and went two for eight.

Scott Sissin played in 29 games and went 36 of 55 or 66%.

For comparison, AV is 288 of 349. or 83% and Gostkowski is off to a good start at 20 of 26 or 77%. Gino was 176 of 333 or 53%.

I remember that very well too. I was quite young at the time and living in a boarding school watching the game on a portable television under my duvet. "That moment" didn't last long.

The only reason possible that he stayed on as long as he did was there wasn't anybody out there that they could bring in to replace him- until Bahr became available that is. Tuna got a kicker he could trust and the Patriots got at least an average to decent kicker to not cost them games...

Anyone remember if he was cut or waived by the Eagles or did the Patriots trade for him?

Come to think of it with the except of Sisson's start the Patriots have had a decent kicker on the team from '93 to the present- a nice 17 and a half year run.

I can't add any more names, but I'll do my part by providing stats for some of the guys you mention:

Charlie Gogolak played in 55 games and had a career FG% of 56% (52 of 93)

Nick Lowrey was a good kicker who played in 260 games and had a carrer FG% of 80% (383 of 479)

For Gostkowski, you only have his rookie season. He's now 103-121 for 85.1% and is 204-205 on extra points, hasn't missed since rookie year

Do I remember right that we brought Matt Bahr in one year?

My Patriots watching began with the redoubtable John Smith, and though FRanklin was reliable, nobody matched him in my mind until Vinatieri started coming through in every situation. Ghost is better on kickoffs than Vinatieri ever was, though. Love that guy.

Let's hope Zoltan can hold down the punting situation for a long while -- it's been hovering between "adequate" and "atrocious" for most of the Belichick era.

Oh for Rich Camarillo again... That poor bastard was overworked and our saving grace during some years when we really needed a good punter because the team flat out sucked.
