~ How Bout Dem BROOOOOOOOOONS???

Sort of the beauty and the curse of the whole thing. I was never into hockey until a few years ago (B's Stanley Cup season, when my boys started watching). Now I can't get enough! Love it that you can watch a game every few days and not have to wait a whole week for the next chapter. I went to the game last night and the garden was rocking. Great game and great outcome for the B's!! It's made the end of football the last few years not so depressing. I'd recommend it to all!

I love hockey and have played since I was 3(36 now). I said to my friend most Boston born people go to Fenway Park for first sporting event. My first events were Bruins games.

Playoff hockey is fantastic. Nothing to me at least, is better than Sudden Death OT playoff hockey. Granted it does take a few years off ya life :)

I was a big hockey fan as a kid — Bobby Orr era, even bought those yellow Rally hockey pads, full getup. Got turned off by the thuggery, which tarnished what is really a very graceful and athletic sport. It's great that it's "back" ('11 helped around here!). The thuggery seems to have cleaned up a lot. And I think one big help has been HD TV and much slicker TV production values. And yeah, playoff hockey is mighty exciting.

right now if my choice is sex with the wife or watching the Bruins ...

Well she'll just have to take of herself or wait till the game is over ... :D:D:D

Great Points.

Hockey is actually my 4th Favorite, but I've always felt that its unique blend of Grace & Brutality gave it #1 Potential, if it was done right. I, too, grew up with Bobby Orr and those Beloved Big Bad Bruins, and I, too, grew disgusted with the lazy, lax League letting No Talent Clowns like the New Jersey Devils Thug their way to Glory.

Remember when we finally broke the Canadians Curse in 1988?? I'll never forget that Series!!

It was right up there with the glorious climax of the Squish The Fish Campaign!! :D :rocker:

Janney and Joyce ... and the Gahden power failure in the Finals.

Why??

Does she insist you use a Coaster??

Janney and Joyce ... and the Gahden power failure in the Finals.

Indeed, Sir...

I suppose it's too much to hope for, 25 Years later...Especially because it didn't result in a Goal...

But I don't suppose you remember that one Play where Craig Janney ~ I feel like I'm lying even before I write it!! ~ faked out not one, not two, but FOUR Players ~ the lot'f whom were pretty much reduced to flopping & twitching on the Ice ~ as he flipped, twisted, jived, and jangled his way into position for a shot???

One'f the most Mesmerizing Moments I've ever seen in this Great Game.

But he didn't sink the Shot.

I've always felt, since then, that he should've Put The Puck On The Net a bit earlier...but that he got carried away with the Art, as it were. I'll bet he would have the same assessment if you asked'm, today.

I've also always wondered...if he had sunk that Shot...if it might've been Just What The Doctor Ordered to give'm that Confidence to propel'm to that Next Level that always seemed One Game Away with Craig Janney.

She probably loves the Cup playoffs :)

When did NJ thug their way to glory? Trap their way to glory, sure but thug?
Who were these thugs?

Nice job today. Not a Hockey expert but the last two periods it looked like a nice defensive effort. Puck spent a lot of time in front of the Bruins net!

Seidenberg needs to return ASAP; Bartkowsi is Brutal.

You know those car commercials where they say "Imagine if you had to choose between bed or breakfast? . . . I prefer and."

I'm guessing here's one time where you won't prefer and. ;)

The Rangers are actually my second favorite team after the Bruins, but it's not even close... so GO BRUINS!

Your second favorite team is from New York? NEW YORK?????

I don't view hockey through the traditional NY-Boston rivalry, not really with Basketball either (Heat and Lakers I hate way more). I guess second favorite isn't a good word for it either, more like "least hate" because I have respect for the franchise. I hate the penguins and the canadiens much more, and I don't really care for the southern teams. And I'm a swede so I like Lundqvist.

I agree that the NHL probably made a mistake in not coaxing the game away from what allowed the NJ Devils.
Yet to be fair to the Devils, despite their "method", NJ had that important piece that makes or breaks a team, something the Bruins largely lacked up until recent years (unless, maybe, you go back decades to "Eddy Shore, old time hockey"), a stone wall for a goalie for the playoffs. That's one thing NJ didn't lack. It is unfortunate in the days of 4, O'Reilly/the Big Bad Bruins, that they always had to face Ken Dryden every playoffs (hearing his name still pisses me off :D)

No doubt, football is the sport of sports. I'm concerned for the future of it due to what the owners are doing/keep trying to do but it still remains the sport of sports. It is #1 on many sports fans lists and their #2 is often far behind (TV ratings-revenues back that up). But playoff hockey is an entertaining thing to watch/follow. A much better spectator playoff sport, imho, than MLB (though I do go to more baseball games than any other sport). Just my two cents but if your a general Boston sports fan, you're missing out on some very entertaining sports watching if you are skipping these Bruins games.

With flat screen TVs in the right rooms along with proper positioning, why not have the best of both worlds? :D

Remember watching hockey on an SD TV? Kind of like listening to a radio with a night lite on. No programming has improved more with HDTV than hockey. Al we need now is a second feed to follow all the fun that goes on out of the view of the camera.
