How soon before Florio or ESPN picks this up and leads with it as a "big breaking story" That being said it IS embarrassing when a few jerks can ruin another fan's trip to this area. The Krafts have done a great job of making a trip to Gillette an enjoyable event, even for fans of other team's but the reality is that there are well over 60,000 fans, and it only takes less than 10 to create Freeney's mother's reaction. My apologizes to her.

I never claimed my rant to include a classy statement.

Personally I think she is an idiot for stereotyping a teams entire fan base as disresecting jerks just because she sat next to a couple of obnoxious fans at Gillette.

Had the person in charge of the big screen at Gillette put herself up on Gillettes big stadium screen and 60,000 fans booing her would give her a better reason not to want her son to play here....picking out 10,20 maybe even 30 fans as a reason is pure stupidity.

I really think she does not have the guts to admit that she simply hates the Patriots with all the success they have had and the huge rivalry all those years and she should admit that's the reason why she doesn't want Dwight wearing the Elvis.

I didn't want Dwight here before this and I don't want him now..IMO,he's done as a pass rushing threat.

Abraham would make a better fit anyway.

I am sure she wasn't wearing a "I'm Dwight Freeney's mom" shirt

My guess is that during this particular game she was attending,Dwight may have had a sack on Brady and maybe right after the play she just popped up out of her seat yelling something like 'yeah!'....or something like that,in that case you are going to hear from Pats fans whether you like it or not.

Not that this would ever happen, but if the Patriots were to offer Freeney a nickel more than any other team in the NFL, I can pretty much guarantee his mom would be wearing a Patriot jersey by lunch time that very day.

Who cares about the fans and what they said?..fans likely do it to opponents family members in every stadium. .....many of them probably with a little too much to drink.

What you say is true. But it doesn't make it right. I am contemplating bringing our daughter to our first NFL preseason game in philly. But the thought of having a chance to be verbally abused by Eagles fans is making me think twice.

Thanks for the heads up. I know this to be especially true for hockey. A lot of opposing fans get a good beating in the septa train ride. I guess I shouldn't press my luck.

Preseason, you might survive, but Philly fans are the worst of all. I took my teenaged sons to Jacksonville for the Superbowl against Philly - we weren't together all the time because of different ticket packages - and I was actually afraid they were going to get the crap beat out of them. Never seen anything like it. If you walked downtown with a Patriots' shirt or cap, people would get right in your face screaming at you.

We went to dinner - had reservations and so got in ahead of some Philly fan. Five minutes later, in comes the doorman, his face a bloody mess because he let in Pats fans before Philly fans. Honestly, it was a nightmare.

Best fans I've ever been around: Carolina Panther fans.

If you go to a game in Philly, you can enjoy it, just use the following guidelines.

1) Don't wear your team colors
2) Don't get into arguments about which team is better.
3) Quietly root for your team without drawing attention to yourself.
4) Don't offer up that you're a fan of another team.

It sounds restrictive but at least you get to go to the game while minimizing your chances of some thug blindsiding you.

Also, it should be stated that having kids with you is no deterrent for drunk *******s to leave you alone. They'd just as easily hit you in front of your kids either way.
