Former Cowboys RB Felix Jones visiting the Pats

Shane vereen has not exactly been "Superman" out there either....He has been injured alot during his time here.....shown flashes of brilliance but in no means is his position "automatic" or safe here.....He better come in to camp ready to fight to win his spot. Blount has shown amazing flashes of great talent.....He is relatively durable....just has to keep his "nose clean" (I mean that figuratively) and be a team player. You would think from all these RB moves that Bolden is not 100%....or could it be ridley or vereen? I don't know but someone is banged up. Felix Jones is another one of those "Flashes of Brilliance RB's".....but he has been injured alot. More camp fodder I would gather.....the last two (or three) men standing win......

Disagree, I think Vereen is a roster lock. He's too talented and too versatile.

How can it hurt to have camp competition? Ridley is our #1 RB. IMHO, after that it's up for grabs. The number of running backs we keep is also up for grabs.

My personal view is that if Jones signs, I don't think Bolden should be signing any long term leases.

Jones isn't any better than Vereen. Seems like a waste, although solid camp fodder and maybe he sticks. As a guy who roots for and watches alot of 'Boys games, he was misused there. He should be a speed, change of pace guy but they tried to make him a lead dog. Not a great role for him.

The other side of it is that maybe they have plans for Vereen and want to make sure the offense can still function per that plan if he gets injured.

I think Washington is a lock merely for kick return. We've been so deficient there and giving TB12 a shorter field to play with is always a good idea. We don't have any other KR on the roster per se.

bolden had no game after he was caught ... perhaps he has no game without PED help.

Long as he learns to not get caught like everyone else who cares?

In this day and age the so called greatest MLB of this era retires a hero after taking PEDs.

Not going to begrudge a poor UDFA trying to make his mark.

He certainly has a chance to earn a spot on the team, although the acquisition of Blount and his mistakes from last season definitely make it harder for him.

it never fails..the Pats sign a player and there's a ****storm of negative responses that run the gamut. I mean, it's not like we haven't seen these moves before. They do it to create as much competition as possible for each role on the team. I really don't care who the five RB's that make the team are, as long as they are the best five out of the group that's been brought in for this particular camp. Speculation as to the relative merits, pro and con, for each player picked up really is just that, idle speculation.

Training camp can't get here fast enough for me.

he has a career 4.8 yards per att rushing and over 1000 yards rec in he's career and has only missed 4 games the last 3 years, he's worth a look I think there is room for a upgrade at all backup RB spots that's why BB traded for a former 1000 yard rusher and is looking at what could be a perfect 3rd RB in jones

Could be worth it to have in camp!

I've followed Jones career for the last two years, it is crap in a paper bag. Camp fodder for sure.

The team is going to miss danny woodhead a lot - belichick completly blew it on DW.

Never hurts to have some competition in camp, should the Pats end up signing him. He'll be giving Washington/Bolden/Blount a push.

Ryan Matthews is all bark and no bite. Woodhead will probably end up as the starter for the Chargers. His loss will be magnified if Vereen doesn't become the player many of us believe he can become.

I do not think this team will miss woodhead one bit, Vereen is Woodhead on HGH.

Felix Jones NFL Football Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com

Played with Mallet at Arkansas, first round draft pick, only 26, excellent ypc and nice return numbers. His biggest problem is fumbles - 12 fumbles in 569 carries. If he can clean that up, he could be a steal.

He has a history of ankle, hamstring and knee injuries that has earned him the moniker "Fragile Felix."

Probably won't stick with New England or even get an invite to camp.

As evidenced by what exactly? A couple of receptions? What is it about this guy that has everyone convinced of his greatness? He's produced less than JR Redmond his first two years.

I think he can be an effective pass catcher in this offense, still not completely sold on his effectiveness as a runner.

Whenever given the opportunity Vereen has more than proven himself as awesome. What else do you want him to do? Guys have to start somewhere.

No he hasn't, this is what I'm talking about. He's had one game in which he played very well and one catch in another inwhich he ran 80+ yards untouched in a straight line on a blown coverage. Nothing else all that special.

I have to admit, I was surprised that this was your take on Vereen.
