Patriots Sign 19 Undrafted Free Agents, Hand Out Numbers to Rookies | New England Patriots | NESN.com

Among draft picks, second-rounders Jamie Collins and Aaron Dobson will wear No. 91 and 17 respectively. Logan Ryan will wear No. 26, Duron Harmon will wear No. 30, Josh Boyce will wear No. 82, Michael Buchanan will wear No. 99 and Steve Beauharnais will wear No. 45.

DO not like Dobson wearing #17, to me, that number equates with failure (Chad Jackson and Taylor Price). Why do rookie FA's TJ Moe and Kembrell Thompkins get #'s 84 & 85 respectively ? I like the rest of the numbers, Boyce gets his college # and so does Buchanon. Collins wearing #91 is good, because that is a DE AND OLB #.

I wanted Collins in a 50 series, I don't like Dobson in 17 either, I want him in an 80 series.

Because that's what they picked? :p

Dobson wore #3 in College so needed a new number, Andre Holmes currently has 13 - 10 & 17 were the lowest 2 numbers left that aren't taken currently and the other option would have been #83.

But, a number is just a number and he could be a superstar for all we know, that will clear the memory of Jackson/Price wearing #17.

Notice Armstead is #97 too.

83 would have been good for Dobson

Re: Rookie numbers announced....

83 would have been good for Dobson

Agreed. But hopefully he makes #17 his own, becomes a star, and we'll all be buying #17 jerseys.

Collins being assigned 91 probably indicates the Pats are going to re-sign Tracy Woods (unresticted FA) and are keeping his #58 open for him.

If there was any doubt about the return of Brandon Lloyd, there's isn't anymore with an UDFA being assigned 85.

Still curious if Amendola wears 83. Maybe they haven't told Brady yet that Welker is in Denver and they are hoping he doesn't notice.... ;)

FWIW, I don't think Amendola cares much about his number, although he's always been on the lower end of #s (20 at Texas Tech, 11 with the Iggles, 16 with the Rams).

Because that's what they picked? :p

FWIW, they don't always get a choice, or at least much of one: I remember Gostkowski said that when it came time to pick his number, the Patriots gave him two choices: 3 or 5.

Maybe next time we'll just have you pick their numbers. Jeez.

He wore 3 at Marshall, 83 is the only one with 3 in it that is available to him

Maybe its time to reverse the #17 curse? i hope dobson is the man.

Does anyone have 93?

Does anyone have 93?

I would assume Tommy Kelly has it.

Also, I saw something before about Dobson posting on his Twitter that he wanted 83 but was told it was taken. Haven't verified that though.

I agree, Collins in my mind should be in that 50's range. 91 is an awful number. Don't mind 17 for Dobson at all. I don't think of Chad Jackson and Price at all. This is new era. And the way I look at it is how can 3 highly drafted WRs, all Bust with the #17 ???

just realized: Aaron Dobson was #3 in college, His initials are AD. AD3. Aye Dee three. 83. he should be wearing number 83

I'm fine with Collins having 91. There aren't really any numbers in the 50's left. Especially since 56/57 can't be used.

hopefully some of these numbers change at the end of camp

The only numbers I care about are their on-field stats.

Sounds like the Pats should retire the number 17
