Didn't see this mentioned but Logan Mankins got glowing reviews from Haloti Ngata and Geno Atkins...

Ngata:"He's just a great all-around offensive lineman. A player you really want on your team."

"With [Mankins} not there, I think you can recognize the difference...He's their bell cow. "

"Logan has farmer's strength....I think he enjoys run blocking"

Geno Atkins: ""No one is touching Tom Brady with him blocking for him."

Hopefully, this educates some of the people here that claim that Mankins isn't good at run blocking or that he's not one tough SOB...

Pretty damn good to be #82 while battling a laundry list of injuries, he's a great player. It sucks that Justin Tuck is seemingly the only guy that owns him

Hasn't Justin Tuck come up against an injured Logan Mankins though?

When he's healthy it's hard to think of another guard better but it's just keeping the guy healthy - especially when he's that much of a tough SOB he doesn't tell you he has a torn ACL!

I think last year definitely not sure about that other time, can't remember the date. Either way he's a key cog on the team Brady's getting older he needs his protection.

Best thing about Mankins is that he brings a nastiness to the offense he isn't afraid to get into a scuffle.

Overrated and the list is a complete joke and guys routinely get in or get overrated based on name.

Sure, the first two weeks of the season he's great but he single handedly lost us sb42, jets 10, and caused the safety in sb 46

Maybe if he wasn't so grossly overpaid I wouldn't have much issue with it but last season (when the list is supposed to be about) he was definitely not a top 100 player.

One of the most overrated players in the NFL. Dominates bad defensive lines but gets humiliated whenever he goes up against good players.

I still get nightmares of Fred Robbins abusing him in SB42 and frickin' Linval Joseph lunging at Brady on the Chase Blackburn pick in the rematch. Joe Andruzzi played much better on the big stage than Mankins.

HUH? You clearly don't know what you are talking about. Mankins wasn't the sole cause of the losses in SB42, the play-off game against the Jets in 2010 or the Safety in SB 46. You are clearly talking like someone who is absolutely clueless about football for you to believe that.

1) SB 42 was lost when Mike Carey refused to call Eli Manning down even though he was in the grasp of two Patriots. Carey even said, after the game, he blew the call. You could also point directly to Asante Samuel who dropped an interception blew the coverage on 2 of the TDs AND the pass to David Tyree. BTW, the entire OL had the flu, yet the starters still went out there and played.

2) Claiming that Mankins was responsible for that safety shows that you didn't even watch the game. Let's review. The Patriots had Solder in as a receiver eligible and he was lined up at the Left TE spot to the left of Light. The you had Light, Mankins, Connolly, Waters, Vollmer, and Gronkowski. The Giants from left to right had Osi Uminyora, #99 (Tollefson ?), Linval Joseph, and Tuck. So, Tuck was lined up against VOLLMER to begin with. At the snap, Light is squared up to take on Uminyora with Solder. Mankins is squared up on #99.#99 disrupts things by engaging LIGHT and getting Mankins turned towards the outside. Doing this gets Light off-balance, forcing Solder to take Uminyora alone. Connolly turns and engages Joseph who is trying to penetrate against Waters. Joseph gets Waters turning towards the outside. Tuck, initially engages Vollmer, but then stunts around Joseph. Connolly disengages from Joseph and swivels to try and face up with Tuck, but Vollmer is in front of him. BJGE, who is supposed to be blocking and picking up any stunts, runs through the B gap and ends up chipping Uminyora while Light is engaging #99. Vollmer tries to move with Tuck, but can't. Connolly misses the block on Tuck and ends up hitting #99. Connolly is now in Vollmer's way, delaying Vollmer from getting to Tuck. Tuck then swivels around to his left, finds Brady and rushes him.

Now, I don't know how you can be blaming MANKINS when it's clear as day that it is at least Vollmer and Connolly who screwed the pooch on the play. It is my belief that BJGE was also supposed to be pass-blocking, not running delayed route out through the B-Gap.

Except its not true.

Brady has been raped while Mankins was blocking for him.

The media knows nothing.

The team know nothing, way overpaying Mankins, an average player.

And now, the players have no nothing because they voted Mankins the #8 Ol in the league.
========

Perhaps. just perhaps, it is the Message Board Whiners who know nothing.

A top guard when healthy, but he is a playoff choker.

No. What is not true is what you've spouted. Just like tonyto who needed to be educated on SB42 and SB 46.

Really.. And I bet you blame him for the safety also.. A play which was Vollmer's fault, not Mankins..

~overexcited, unnecessarily angry response~

1. We absolutely lost SB 42 because of Mankins. He was destroyed the entire game, along with the rest of the OL. The game doesn't come down to a fluke play if our OL doesn't get our record setting offense shut down.

2. I missed remembered. Calm down. It's amazing you know what the B gap is, but that doesn't really mean anything besides I misremembered. Mankins was pretty horrible that entire game.

Not sure what got your panties in a bunch, but you should calm down.

When Mankins is healthy he's a good G. Not worth what he's being paid. To make things worse he's always hurt and either missing games or playing like garbage because he's hurt. Would TB be great if three games into every season he played like Mark Sanchez because his arm got ripped off and sown back on? No of course not, health plays a big part in how you evaluate a player.

I would have said the Patriots choked away SB42 mainly in part because Belichick and McDaniels took far too long to make the necessary adjustments to counter the Giants rather obvious game plan.

We all know it was Welker that lost us SB46 come on now guys ;)

Maybe the calls were meant to be blown...the fix was in.

I look forward to Mankins putting together a healthy season and reminding people that he is actually a pretty darn good player when he's not playing through injuries that would sideline 90% of players.
