Didn't see a thread. Most likely for pot

Justin Blackmon's latest violation of the NFL's substance-abuse policy will cost him money -- maybe lots of it.

The league suspended Blackmon on Tuesday for the first four games of the 2013 season for his second violation in less than a year. He will not get paid for the four-week hiatus. Maybe more importantly, the suspension triggers language in his contract that voids future guarantees.

Don Blackmon? He must be 50 by now

Adderall possibly too. Unfortunately, we'll likely never know.

On the other hand---a player like Justin Blackmon could be one hell of an addition to the WR group here, although there's no way in the world that he wouldn't be claimed by another team with a higher waiver priority.

I can't imagine JAX cutting him anyway. They're already into him for 8.5 million after one year. They may as well just keep him for at least another year or two. He really showed some nice play in the last month, and ended up with 64 catches as a rookie.

He's obviously not too bright and has character issues, but he'd definitely be one of those "what if" players that may show a lot more with a change of scenery.

Must be for Adderall like Sherman, Talib, Wright, Cunningham, Hill.

He actually is very bright, that's why this is very shocking. If you ever see him in an interview, he seems like such an intelligent, respectful young man. I saw a segment on him on ESPN while he was still in college, and he really is a great guy, giving back to the community, helping people, caring about his fellow man. This is why I'm really shocked about this.

Nobody gets suspended for Adderall.

The NFL doesn't release what guys tested positive for. Adderall is just the most PC drug, so thats what players always tell the press.

Blackmon got suspended under the substance abuse policy (and not the perfromance enchancing substance policy, so it can't be Adderall).

That being said, he's a starter, and a good one. He's not gonna lose anything more than 4 game checks over this. His contract isn't guaranteed anymore, but if they cut him, he'll be on the free market, and get a raise.

Everyone on the sports stations has said that it isn't for a PED drug..but refer to it as substance abuse policy...(aka pot)

LOL. Sounds like a reasonable way to get out of Jax.:D

He used to get HAMMERED at the Jax Beach bars when he was first drafted. In front of a lot of people too. I've seen it myself in person. So, with that in mind, I highly doubt it was for something like Adderall. I think I know what it is but I'm not going to speculate because I don't know for sure.

Good catch on the substance abuse policy/non PED's report, so it apparently isn't for Adderall.

I highly disagree with your comment that "no one gets suspended for Adderall" however. I understand your point that it's the current PC answer from players who've been suspended, but it's also a very popular PED that is used amongst many NFL players at the same time as a stimulant to run/play faster, harder, with more focus, and not tire as easily. I know several people who use it to train and lift outside of football, and it's even a popular street drug that resembles the feelings of cocaine/speed.

In all actuality, we've heard the "I have a prescription for Adderall, but my agent didn't get it cleared by the league" excuse plenty of times. Players have come right out and admitted that they take it...hell, we've even had famous players like Richard Sherman claim that "about 50% of all NFL players take it" just within the past couple of months. I'm sure you're right that it's also used as an excuse since they can't reveal the actual substance, but at the same time it's still an enormous problem too.

Nice link, but I think it's pretty debatable as to just how "smart" Blackmon really is both in/out of football.

There were plenty of rumors from GMs and draftniks that claimed that he couldn't run the whole route tree and that the Oklahoma State offense had to dumb-down the scheme and calls to better take advantage of his talents (much like their last superstar WR Dez Bryant).

If you are a person who has the entire world by the *** and you go out and get multiple DUIs and now the drug suspension presumably for marijuana, there are going to be people who don't think you're all that bright...

Not meaning to be argumentative, just saying...

I don't see him having a good career in Jacksonville.

Not true, some CBs actually do take adderral to help them track and think quickly.

I had a shared suite with a CB in college and that what I was told anyway.
