Jets QB Geno Smith fires agents because he wasn't drafted 1st overall
By: John Morgan

Unbelievable. Confidence is one thing, but this is delusional arrogance. Geno Smith wasn't drafted in the first round because he wasn't a first round talent; why is his own lack of talent the fault of his agents?...

Sounds like the perfect Jet

Wow, what a punk. I can't wait to watch this kid flop like a fat kid off the high dive.

To be fair to Geno, if his agent told him that he'd go first overall, then the guy's either a liar or a complete ******* idiot, and both are fireable offenses in my book.

OTOH, Geno is clearly also an idiot.

A lot of people gave Nolan Nawrocki ***** for what he said in his PFW book but nothing that Smith has said or done since has done anything to dispell what Nolan wrote. Smith looks like a petulent child, not a leader.

geno just screams "Represented by Rapper Jay Z" to me.

This kid has stumbled right out of the blocks. gotta feel bad for those jets fans :bricks:

Boy, that is not the mentality a QB needs to have anywhere, let alone NY. They're gonna eat him alive....

They're all idiots. If the agents let him believe he'd be the first pick overall, they deserve what they get. Smith is an idiot because he believed them. Is this guy really so oblivious as to think that #1 overall was a possibility? Did a single mock draft EVER have him #1 overall?

I'm gonna get me one of those monster=sized bags of popcorn for this season. The Jets' circus is going to be sweet to watch. :D

I can't wait for opening day, especially when the JETS open with the Bucs, and their new all-world corner Revis.......

You think that Geno Smith is a rough case now, wait until he views life in the NFL while facing a REAL corner.

Absolutely agree. BUT:

Sources told the News that Smith’s agents from Select Sports Group gave him no assurance of his draft position.

Agents spend a ton of money, time and effort prepping these prospects. Taking that work and walking away is not cool.

A bitter yet insightful comment from a JetsInsider post:

How do you spell Geno Smith? D-A-R-R-E-L-L-E- R-E-V-I-$.

Not just first round first pick overall, its going to be fun to watch this guy implode. This is another indication smith isn't ready to play for the Big Apple Circus.

OMG the Jets have to make Sanchez a June 1st designated cut now. Cannot wait to see this self absorbed prima donna get his ass smoked big time. I'm wicked pissed that I'll be stuck in the backwater of Victorier Canader for the Jets game.

Don't get wicked pissed, pissah. I'm sure there will be plenty of games in whcih to watch this prima donna get humiliated.

Obviously it depends on what his agent led him to believe. Perhaps the first pick in the draft is an exaggeration. However, if you hire an agent who "promises" you the top 10 and possibly the top pick or two, then I can understand firing him when you are drafted in the second round.

Maybe he's mad because if he had been drafted first overall he wouldn't have been drafted by the Jets!

And which is worse... finding out that you're not the top QB in a weak draft class... or finding out that you're not even good enough to stand out against Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy, Matt Simms and David Garrard (hence the "open competition").

How will they find a helmet big enough?

I like this one a little more......."If I got drafted by the Jets, I'd probably fire my agent too." Over at JI they all see smith as a prima donna too.

I may steal that as a sig

So, when things go not as hoped the first response is to blame someone else?

I'd like to go on record saying he will fail as a starting QB.
