How many picks did Steve Belichick make?

Shalise Manza Young made an interesting point on a radio interview today. Without stating the obvious, she said these Rutgers kids were all recruited and played for Tampa Bay Coach Schiano. Yet Schiano won't touch any of them in the Draft. That speaks volumes..... BB "Hey Stevie boy, I know you're BFFs with that Duran kid. Think he can play?"

O.K. now here comes the tag line. "The Pats Draft differently". Yet every year Ted Thompson and Ozzie kick Bill's ass in the Draft room.

Shalise Manza Young should do a little more research.

Last year one Rutgers player was drafted. Sanu. Guess how many WR Tampa took? Zero.

This year seven Rutgers players got drafted. You know how many players Tampa picked that were the same position of the seven that got drafted. One and it was Jonathan Banks in the 2nd round who was the best CB on the board at the time.

And Ted Thompson and Ozzie Newsome have about the same success rate as Bill at picking players.

Bill had better drafts then them in '10 & '11 and as of right now '12 is leaning in Bill's favor.

Also Ted Thompson and Ozzie kick Bill's ass in the Draft room also that guy in Pittsburgh

Go look at '10, '11 and '12 you can't honestly say they kicked Bill's ass those drafts.

I wonder if Texans fans are exploring theories like this? They drafted 2 players from UConn and added another as an UDFA. Two of those were offensive players from a 5 win team that was awful on that side of the ball. I hope they're not trying to figure out if the owner/GM/coach had children at that school to explain their personnel moves.

Regarding SMY's question (Why didn't Schiano draft "his" guys?), look at all the other moves they have made. They just traded for Revis and signed Goldson as a FA. They drafted Barron with their top pick last year and took a CB with their top pick this year (#43, Ryan didn't go for another 40 picks.) And they still have Eric Wright on the team. Schiano didn't draft any of college DBs because he already rebuilt his secondary.

Why does everyone assume Schiano didn't want those guys? For all we know, Belichick had to draft them "too soon" to get them before Schiano.

You can feel free to not like every pick the Pats have made for the last 10 years but suggesting that Belichick is letting his son have any power over the draft crosses the line from nearly ******ed to completely, severely ******ed.

What is the big deal with Belichick having his son as a scout?

I am thoroughly shocked we didn't draft a fullback from Navy who is currently in Afghanistan.

I guess the self-hating Pats fan is fast becoming a new class of fan here. Everyone is better and smarter than we are. I just keep wondering if all those teams are better drafters that the Pats are, how come year after year the Pats have better win/loss records? We should know by now that who gives a **** if these teams are declared "winners in April". I'd much rather win from September to February. Christ Toys, you're starting to sound like a Jets fan.

Yes, notable softie Bill Belichick is well-known for making decisions based on sentiments. You've definitely hit the nail on the head with this post.

We also have different team needs. They traded for Revis and signed Goldson during FA. I don't see a need in them drafting a pair of players from the same position.

I hate these arguments "Oh no!!! Rutgers coach didn draft rutgers players they must be bad!!!"

Maybe these new Rutgers players will turn out be elite like McCourty?

Cant wait.

I don't understand why everyone is so quick to trust the media mockers who can hardly go 1 for 32 mocking the 1st round - which is the most obvious round - more than an NFL HC? If BB thinks these guys are worth the pick we just have to trust that they are. I know in the last 3 years BB has been more right than wrong and certainly more right than the media mockers.

Well first of all Joker is going to come in here and lambast you because you stated Bill is not the bestest GM ever.

But I think the real question is how many picks did McCourty influence. Either way I don't really care about the guy in the 7th those are fliers and if they think that guys good whatever. Harmon was head scratching, but what can you do tons of BBs third round picks have been garbage so reaching for garbage isn't a reason to lose it over.

I think the draft overall was fine, they made an effort to draft receivers which is all I could ask for.

You think that McCourty has weight to throw around in the war room? ... seriously?

We could bring the entire Rutgers senior class to training camp for less cap money than Schiano is spending this year on one CB. $16 million a year cap hit for one cornerback is how you build a bad football team in the NFL.

Clearly a joke, calm down I didn't say McCourty was handling the board in the war room. Bill did probably ask him a bit about the Rutgers DBs since he knows them better than anyone in the organization.

I have NEVER EVER said anything of the kind. You're too stupid to be able to search but get one of your hater buddies to search all 12,000 of my posts. You moron, YOU give him a higher mark for this draft than I do for krissakes.Yes, I'm happy with the job Belichick does and has done...what friggin' Patriot fan wouldn't be? It's hater trolls like YOU that try to besmirch everything BB and the Patriots have accomplished, like a proven liar such as yourself could have done way better.

How many degrees is it tonight?...or are you on your 2nd doctoral dissertation...

Another delusional rant. You really shouldn't be making jokes about education given that you thought the University of Minnesota was a higher ranked university than Yale

You know very well that the mod deleted our discussion where you listed 15 universities where University of Minnesota and UCLA were higher than Yale.

Anyways I don't need to deal with a crazy person have a good night.

yeah...higher rated in popularity. I remember it. You admitted to being a Georgetown undergraduate after being exposed as a liar...or have you forgotten your "I have two degrees!!" boast? In any event, you DO NOT attend a top 15 university as you stated in plain English. Try to twist and turn this again tomorrow...maybe that will be the day it all becomes true...and then you can tell us all how you're engaged to marry Kate Upton.

"...yeah...two degrees...that's the ticket...."
