Seems like a good pick. Is it true he ran his 4.38 40 time with a broken foot? If so this guy might be a stud. Bedard said his wonderlic was a 23 (2nd highest among receivers) which indicates some intelligence.

I wonder what Aaron Dobson's Wonderlic was.. He sounds very intelligent.

OT: The two guys Ryan and Harmon, from Rutgers were both All Big East players, and
both were Academic All Americans, too. I have no idea about Jamie Collins.

23 is not bad. RG3 had a 24. Brady had a 28.

This guy is a solid pick in the 4th round as a competitor at the slot. He's got good hands and can run over people. The slot receiver just got much younger than Welker and much cheaper.

I didn't say it was bad, just said it is kind of sad that out of all the players that play receiver 23 is the 2nd highest score. More from a basic intelligence stand point than anything, he'll be fine 23 is good enough indication that he has some smarts and can process this offense.

Jones 4.46, 6', 200
Dobson 4.40, 6'3", 210
Boyce 4.38, 5'11", 206

MUCH faster and bigger bodied, just what the doctor ordered. I wish them all the best.

I feel the need to apologize to all the people who were hoping that the Pats would draft 2 WR's this year and I called idiots for thinking that. You were right and I was wrong.

It will be interesting to see how it works out. Still, personally I would have taken a shot a Alex Okafor. Maybe they thought it would be over kill with the Collins signing or they feel better about Bequette and Cunningham that most people here do. OTOH I don't think anyone is going to to figure out that Harmon pick though. ;)

Boyce and Dobson both visited the Pats. Obviously they left quite an impression. Both are excellent playmakers with size and speed. Plus BB has already stated how smart Dobson is, obviously Boyce is pretty smart too if he had the second highest wonderlic score when it comes to receivers.

:)

Harmon likely plays safety better than Ebner.

Boyce:

Routes

Boyce is very crisp on double moves, and he also has the guts to work the middle of the field without fear. His breaks tend to leave the corner a beat behind and create separation, although Boyce is faster with the ball in his hands than he is running routes.

Hands

Boyce is one of the better "hands catchers" in the draft. He is not exceptional and will body catch or double clutch at times, but his hands are certainly above average. Boyce can make catches outside of his frame and the occasional circus catch.

I just want to forget,

Underpants
Ocho Stinko
Price-less
Tate-less
etc...

Boyce adds more speed and athleticism to the WR corps. He's faster in gym shorts than he was on tape, but the things I like most about him are his intelligence and strength. He's well built and strong enough to beat press coverage.

If he plays up to that speed and is able to full develop he could have a Victor Cruz type impact in our offense. He is similar to Cruz from a "height-weight-speed" perspective. Boyce can slide into the role vacated by Deion Branch and be much more of a playmaker for this offense going forward.

I think his workout was 4.38. He was and is still recovering from an injury.

Anyone know who our WR coach is? And how long has he been with patriots?

I'm well aware of what his 40 time was and the circumstances around it.

He does not play at that speed on game days. Thus, he's faster in gym shorts than he is in pads as stated in the post above. It will remain to be seen whether he can fully harness all that explosive ability in their offense, but he has a good chance to compete to make an impact with them.

Wow, the 2nd highest WR score was just 23? Ugh.

23 is pretty good for a position player. It's not like the dude has to play qb for us. Besides, u want to know who had one of the highest wonderlic scores of ALL TIME? Mike Mamula with a 49. Yeah it's not the be all indicator of NFL success.

What I like what I'm hearing about Boyce is that he has a strong upper body, hard to jam, and runs the complete route tree. He also has exceptional quickness and doesn't lose much speed going into his cuts. What was one of our weaknesses last year? Our receivers getting gobbled up by press/physical corners.

Dobson and Boyce appear to be the answer. One is an imposing physcial presence who will outjump most dbs. The other is Boston Strong to beat the jam. ;) Pats WR corps just got a whole lot more physical over the past two days.

apology accepted. lol. pats totally revamped their wr corps this season. hopefully it pays dividends soon. but receivers usually take the 3 year plan before they fully blossom. which means we better hope that amendola, jones, etc. can hold the fort until the young pups are ready to take over.

Chad O'Shea has been with the patriots for 3 years. He has 17 years of coaching experience, 10 in the nfl. I'm sure that Josh will take a personal interest in developing all the new receivers. Amendola is working with Brady. The others are Dobson, Bryce, Jones, and Jenkins.

It's quite clear the Pats feel that only an intelligent WR can get on the page with Brady which is likely why Tate, Ocho and the others didn't work out

It's likely TFB is demanding on his receivers to read coverages, understand signals, learn complex play books and route trees etc and they have obviously tested these guys when they brought them in otherwise what's the point in drafting Woods or Patton etc if they'll never get on the same page as Tom
