It is important for them to have a lot of day 3 picks because their team sucks and they need to fill roster spots. There is still no competition in the AFCE. The gap this year could be bigger than ever.

dion jordan was a huge reach

jamar taylor is not a good CB.....he's a dime package guy at best

miami might be a .500 team some day....big deal

Supposedly they are trading a 2014 second round pick for OT Albert, who I think is better at OG.

Tanehill has not proved he has "it" yet. Until then, they are "meh".

I guess the thing that impresses me is that they improved at receiver so that Bess became expendable and I think the free agents and draft picks on defense are an upgrade at every position. Just looking at the rosters, I have the AFCE:

Patriots
Dolphins
Bills
Jets

Ryan Tannehill is clearly the 2nd best QB in the division now. The Dolphins are giving him the tools he needs to take the next step. Also, the 2nd half of their schedule is the easiest in the NFL. They'll be 3-5 with a shot at finishing 7-1: http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/04/27/3366592/chiefs-gm-says-hes-resuming-talks.html

I agree. The Pats should win the East w/out much of a challenge though at this point. Tanehill had a good rookie year and the Fins definitely improved in the receiving department, but how it plays out on the field and now teams have a year of tape on Tanehill I think he could end up taking a step back before improving. We'll see. Of course the only thing I really care about in the East besides the Pats winning it is seeing the Jets become a train wreck by the end of the season.:D

So what I got from this thread is that, Miami is still not even on our radar and all of their picks aren't that good.....

IMO Miami is like the op said, our primary challenger right now in the AFCE. The Jets will win some games and so will the Bills but I don't see either winning enough to challenge us for the division. The phins have had a good draft and they've picked up some starters in FA. I don't agree with the contracts they handed out but thats more a problem for the future. At the end of the day I still see the Pats winning the division by 2-3 games but Miami could challenge a team like the Colts or Bengals/Ravens/Steelers for a wildcard spot.

I'm not worried about Miami this year, maybe next year or the year after though. It takes time to build a team. Names don't win games.

Miami is going to get a very high grade in this draft. Loaded up on defense, strengthened their OL and added a pass catcher at TE to push FA Dustin Keller.

I agree on the Mike Wallace contract, but desperate times call for desperate measures. The Dolphins are in South Beach and they needed glitz to compete for local interest (weird to think about from up here that an NFL team is competing for ticket sales and eyeballs.)
