Forgot about Stepfan Taylor. If we traded down and he's there in the 5th-6th I'd love to have him.

Agree with the QB pick in the 7th. Scott would be perfect there.

I know people hate the trading down thing, but I would love to have a few more picks in the 4th round. There might not be any immediate starters available but there are a lot of guys that would be upgrades and potentially impact players down the line. There are a lot of WRs and RBs that I think could easily win a roster spot and contribute. I think some of those TEs would certainly be an upgrade over Hooman and Fells. After Barrett Jones there are quite a few solid developmental O-lineman. And there are still plenty of D-lineman and DBs that could create roster battles and upgrade the lower part of our 53 man roster.

Plus we have all the guys that are much more talented then where they will be drafted but fall because of injury/character. Guys like Lattimore, Jones, Jessie Williams, Faulk, Rambo, Rogers and Marquess Wilson. Its these lower rounds where you can take risks on guys and this is where teams like SF are going to do really well because they can take these risks. This really is a deep draft of second tier talent.

Will Pats pick Jesse Williams, Alabama, in 4th?

He's dropping like a rock (along with many others). He had his knee scoped, and teams are nervous about his lower body cannot take NFL punishment...

If he is ok and is durable, he would be excellent next to Big Vince!

One can only hope, and wait.

I would have rather taken a chance on him than reached on Harmon. If his health checks out, he could anchor the NT position, throw Vince out to RDE, Armstead to LDE, and we would be able to give opposing offenses 3-4 looks again (which our current staff of LB's are better suited for). But I want Patton with our first pick in the second round. Another big bodied, physical, athletic threat on the outside.

There are some good ones out there as listed above. They will not all disappear after 4 picks but they will all be gone by mid-round. Take
the best player available with the 5th pick in the round and it will yield
a good player. Worry about the 7th round players later on.

That's a good list. I don't think that some of those would be a good fit for the Patriots. I like Jones and Swope, so of they take either of those players, I'll consider this draft to be a success. I also like Ryan Spadola WR in the 7th.

Wilforks list is pretty good but my fear is if we don't select one of the better guys available (which only means waiting 4 other picks) then most of them go off the board before our next pick and we end up panicking and taking guys we should have just got in the 7th in the late 4th and 5th rounds.

My preferences in order are:

#1 Da'Rick Rogers - WR
#2 Quinton Patton - WR
#3 Marcus Lattimore - RB
#4 Jesse Williams - DT
#5 Barrett Jones - OL

I have it on good authority that they will trade up to draft the assistant equipment manager from Claremont-Mudd-Scrippes College. They like his versatility and special teams possibilities

.

A guard seems likely.

Barrett Jones would be very nice, as DanC is 31 and coming back from injuries. Would be our next OG.

IF, Patriots get Jesse & Barrett, I'm happy.

I think there is still enough talent left to move down to the bottom of the 4th and still get a quality player. I too would prefer those 5 guys over anyone else (I would also add Okafor and Washington), but there is also a reason those guys have fallen and they may still be there later in the 4th. With a lot of injury guys some teams take them off their board completely, so Jones, Williams and Lattimore could possibly be around for a while. Rogers has character issues so who knows where he goes, did anyone really expect Dennard to still be there in the 7th? I think if we trade down a bit we could still get one or maybe two of these guys in the late 4th/5th round.

Even if they are gone, would a combination of say Marquess Wilson or Kenny Stills along with someone like Chris Faulk be much of a downgrade from 1 of those guys? I am a big believer that the combined value of two players a little lower is greater than 1 higher. Especially at this stage of the draft when its not impact talent, but very solid players.

We should get a 4th,5th,6th, and a conditional 2nd in 2014 for Ryan Mallett today. I have not looked at the 'breaking news" yet so it may have already happened.

Hopefully trade down for a lower 4th and a 5th.

Trade down for a lower 4th or 5th? Given Belichick's love for stockpiling for the future, I could see the Pat's trading out for 2014 picks if he can find a willing team.
