I would like to see the Patriots move up to take Justin Hunter WR, TN. If they can get the Bengals to agree to take 52 &59 for 37,118,156, &190, that would work for me.

Also just heard that the Jets are looking to trade up for Gino Smith. No matter how bad things get in your life, you can always say "well, I"m not a Jets fan".

Re: The Official Round Two 2013 NFL Draft Thread

Starting the day off with a financial bang:

The Green Bay Packers have signed QB Aaron Rodgers to a contract extension. The signing was announced Friday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

Packers sign QB Aaron Rodgers to contract extension

Michael Buchanan

No argument here. If the 5 picks in the next 3 rounds could turn into something like Buchanan + WRs Dobson & Wheaton + a useful db, I'd sleep well.

And what if the Pats trade out of some picks , for next year picks ... :-(

Peter King in his latest mock was an astounding 2 for 32 in his first round (Team to Player) mock, yikes ! I would advise a dart board next time.

Ouch! I thought my 5/32 (with a further 9 correct position, wrong player) was bad and that had trades involved!

There again, I don't get paid to do mocks either.

Hopefully tonight it's 2 receivers and a DE (or coverage LB).

And what if the Pats trade out of some picks , for next year picks ... :-(

I wouldn't count on that but they may. They have a lot of holes they have to fill..they will use almost all of their picks

I keep wondering if the extra picks increase the odds of trading Mallett -- i.e. they now have the picks to gete another QB. I still tend to think they won't trade him unless they get an absurd offer, but you just never know.

Saw this on Twitter:

James Christensen ‏@NEPatriotsDraft 5m
According to @cpriceNFL, the Patriots have real interest in Illinois' Michael Buchanan. Interesting Bandit (DE/OLB) - http

And a related link:

Although he was over-shadowed by his teammate Whitney Mercilus last year, Buchanan looks like the more complete draft prospect to me. if Buchanan can add another 10 pounds (he recently bulked up from 240 to 250) before stepping onto an NFL playing field, his upside will go that much higher and he could be attractive to both 4-3 and 3-4 teams.

Christensen's analysis seems loaded with positives. Thoughts?

Continuing this fascinating conversation with myself:

Mike Reiss ‏@MikeReiss 1m
Reminder: Former Patriots RB Kevin Faulk scheduled to announce the team's second-round pick(s) tonight.

Cool.

Hilarious!

On another note... I bet you could throw that football over those mountains :D
I've been dying to say that to you for a loooooong time....lol

I think Buchanan would be seen much more positively by most draftniks had he not had his jaw wired shut before the season and been on a liquid diet that made him lose 20 pounds. He's a pretty talented guy who could definitely make some kind of impact in the NFL.

NFLNetwork just said bill is interested in trading up and it's possibly for....Manti Teo. don't do it Bill!!!!!
and here's the kicker....TB is supposedly looking to trade DOWN. Greg Schiano and BB are BFFs, so.....

Everything is part of a process whose goal is to trade mallett. The pats could miss the playoffs, but as long as mallett is traded, the season will be EPIC
