With round 1 blowing all mock drafts out of the water, it is time for the next wave of mocks.

2.52 Markus Wheaton, WR, Oregon State
2.59 D.J. Swearinger, S, South Carolina
3.83 Khaseem Greene, OLB, Rutgers
3.91 Aaron Dobson, WR, Marshall
4.120 Tyrann Mathieu, CB, formerly of LSU
7.226 Zach Boren, FB/LB, Ohio State
7.229 Kapron Lewis-Moore, DT, Notre Dame
7.235 Quinton Dial, DT, Alabama

Not bad. I'll need some thinking time to properly assimilate how things stand.

And as it's 5:15 am here, some sleeping time.

That 4th round pick is actually 102 ...#4 in the fourth round

Great work. Only thing I might add is a DT or Guard a little earlier, probably instead of Mathieu. Love the Wheaton, Dobson and OLB (I'm happy Greene, Gooden or Alonso) picks.

I would be fine with another trade down from 59 for a 3rd and 4th rounder. That is the value areas in this draft because the talent doesn't really fall off much until the late 4th/5th round. I think there will be guys in the 3rd and 4th rounds that have 2nd round grades and a lot of guys available that can come in and contribute. So I would be happy with:

52- WR (Hunter, Woods, Patton, Wheaton)
3rd- CB (Slay, Alford, Logan Ryan)
83- WR (Rogers, Williams, Dobson)
91- S/DL (McDonald, Lemonier, C. Washington, Logan)
102- OL- (B. Jones, D. Thomas)
4th- LBer (Jenkins, Gooden, V. Williams)
7's- Best Players Available

That's great. I'm hoping for Wheaton. Patton would be good too. If available, I might go Slay at 59 and hope Swearinger falls to 83. Cyprien and Shamarko Thomas prob go in the 2nd. Still have Philip Thomas, TJ McDonald, Tony Jefferson and Swearinger. Could fall. Greene is a good football player. Love the idea of doubling up on a wr at 91. I think we're at 102, not 120. But, Honey Badger can play.

Like the mock a lot. Ties in with my predictions posted elsewhere, particularly on the WR front. I didn't have Swearinger but could certainly see that happening (or Philip Thomas).

Well done.

I'm thinking swearinger is more a 5th/6th rounder. Slow safety.

Honey Badger? For this team? Not a good fit, IMO.

thinking something like this:

2: Woods,
Keenan Allen (if knee is OK) via tradeup with 3rd rounder

3. Brian Winters G
4. Kavon Webster CB

5. Joe Fauria TE

6. Joe Kruger DE

Maybe an OLB if they can find one who can cover.

Is there a reason you're trading a 2 and a 3 for a 5 and 6?

One of the 3s is moving one of the 2nds up and getting a 5th and 6th in return.

Both woods and allen are picked in the 2nd.

I can't tell you how much I hate this mock (especially at the top)

Wheaton, even if he turned out to be as good as Branch, I'm not interested in little quick WR's anymore. He have enough of those already. If you had picked Woods, Hunter, or Allen with this pick I wouldn't have been thrilled, but I could have understood it.

Swearinger - I don't hate the player, but at the position and ignoring more pressing needs, it would be a minor disaster. Besides a 5'11 S who runs a 4.7 is NOT going to be the cover guy we need, and we already have the premier run stopping S in AWilson. DJ would be totally redundant.

Rotoworld had a 2nd round mock that I would be thrilled with, giving us Hunt and Allen. (Then they spoil it by going WR (AGAIN) and midget CB when there were decent DL options available.

IMHO there are a ton of great options in this 2nd round, but I fear most of them will be gone by the Pats pick at 53. The object here is to find 2 players in the 2nd round that have a reasonable chance to be contributors right away, and starters by their 3rd year.

To give them the best shot at that outcome, I would use a couple of 7th's and the 4th to move up in to the 40's for at least one of those picks. That way we can be assured of getting at least one of the guys we wanted.

Face it, we don't NEED 8 more rookies. It will be a waste. Coming away with the "right" 5 would be ideal, especially if 4 of those 5 were picked in the top 3 rounds

BTW- I have to admit that I have no idea about your picks in the 7th, they could very well be brilliant. Matthieu could also be a brilliant pick, but not for me.

That is crazy, Branch was a Super Bowl MVP and clutch as hell. Look at the cast of stiffs that have rolled through here, yes size is nice but production counts too.

5'11" 189 is a midget?? Woods is 6'1". Wheaton has a 32 3/4" inch arm length. While Woods is 31. Hence, his catching radius is probably bigger than Woods. De-caffeine isn't a bad thing.

And, Greg Cosell was just on Howherd's show praising Swearinger. He says to watch the type. Not the 40 time. After all, he did play against; Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Clemson and Michigan last year. While some of these wonderboys played against one or two good teams.

I don't hate it but I love the Wheaton and Dobson picks.

Wheaton is 5'11 which is not small and judging by his press is a pretty strong guy. Runs every route in the tree and is a burner. We could do a lot worse imo. Great pick.

He then addresses the size issue with the Dobson pick. Enormous specimen who can grow into his role on this team.

Tyrann Mathieu is a pick I like because he keeps Cole off the field and will continually challenge Arrington for the slot. When the Pats are playing 5-6 defensive back sets I really like this pick.

As far as safety Swearinger, not a bad pick in the late 3rd or 4th. Just dont like him in the 2nd.

Right now I'm leaning towards someone like Carradine or Hunt and then concentrating on getting wr's.

Or they can move up and get Woods or Allen etc.

Without nitpicking. What players are you targeting? I'd like to see what your vision of the team is going into tonight.

I really like Swearinger as a prospect, I think he plays faster than his 40 time, he had the best 3 cone of safeties at the combine, played some spot corner in college and hits hard. I think he can match up with TEs or RBs coming out of the backfield. He was a team captain, something BB loves.

here's my hopeful prediction for today and tomorrow...
