Before we discuss lets disspell the myth about the Patriots not drafting guys with character issues. Now on to Da'Rick Rogers something went down at Tennessee that got him kicked off the Team don't know all the details but If he had remain God only knows what he would have done there. Two Highly touted WR's from Tennessee are in the Draft and from my reading it seemed like Da'Rick Rogers was considered better than both. He went to the other Tennessee School and tore it up. One thing I noted from watching tape he is not afraid to go over the middle a far cry form someone we had last year. What's Patsfans.com take on Mr. Rogers? I think he would be Great value in the Second or a Trade up in the 3rd Round.

Don't really agree that the Patriots don't draft guys with character issues. They did with Dennard but he fell to the 7th round. Hernandez had some issues with Mary-J but did he have other issues? Who else were considered character issue players? In terms of the early rounds, it's more likely that the Pats will draft very high character players. Rule of thumb is that they're smart, captains and from big schools.

I certainly think that Rogers has a lot to offer as a WR but I doubt we'll be taking him until the late third at the earliest - if that. there are two things in Rogers' favour. firstly, no failed tests after getting kicked off Tennessee and secondly, he's a nice athletic fit in terms of his combine measurables.

No doubt Rogers is supremely talented. Before he was kicked out of the Tennessee program, I believe he was ALL SEC first team for WR; not sure on that but I believe he was. Great skill set and I agree he may be more talented than Patterson and Hunter BUT.....and in my opinion, it's a huge BUT. To get kicked off the Tennessee football team, he must have really really really F'd up. I wouldn't be interested until round 3. From round 3 on, yes, I am very interested. Anywhere before that, the risk is too big in my opinion.

Actually that's my bad - I was arguing that they don't or at least very rarely but worded it wrongly.

Thank's Kontra: manman had me second guessing what I said there.:D

That's enough of that. Just because I ****ed up my mock draft thread, I don't want this persisting thankyou :D  :D

Good stuff, I think our late Second Rounder is more closer to the Third than anything else. So I wouldn't be against them taking him there...again imo.

Before the season I said Rogers was the best WR in this draft and I still think he is the most talented. Outside of character I think he ticks all the boxes. Size, strength, physicality, speed, agility, route running, pro readiness and the guy just loves football. At the combine I think he was the most impressive of all of the WRs in testing numbers, especially with his 3 cone time at his size. He isn't AJ Green or Julio Jones but I think he is the safest talent in the draft. Now the personal side is still a huge issue and the reason he isn't a top 10 pick.

Thanks Vince...don't want to burst any bubbles but if the Pats FO deems that he would be ok after interviews and such you could see why they could go Defense with #29.

Bear in mind he's one of the few we haven't interviewed or had any contact with (as far as we know).

The Patriots are clearly willing to take chances on players with off-field character flags. But when was the last time they drafted anybody at all who was reported to have a bad attitude with teammates and coaches like Rogers?

Things that make you go Hmmmm...I not going to read too much into what you said.:D BB is known from time to time to make a few WTBlank selections.
