Draft Rumours

If Bill trades down, I hope he gets better trade value than last year.
He traded a 2nd round pick (#62) for a 3rd round pick (#90) and a
5th round pick (#163). Trade value loss of 120 points. Then he
traded the 5th round pick (#163) for a 6th round pick (#197) and two
7th round picks (#224 and #235). Trade value loss of 9 points. Luckily,
the #224 pick netted him Dennard.

Losing 9 points on day 3 means nothing.

I see it this way: he turned ONE pick into a starting CB in Dennard, a core ST player in Ebner, and a flyer on Ebert. That's a win in my book.

It seems like every team is talking about trading down. Whilst I don't expect it with out limited picks, I wouldn't be surprised if BB trades up again because this is potentially the buyers market of all buyers markets.

Many of the mocks have only one QB drafted in the first round. If this plays out, there may be teams wanting to move into the first to get their man.

I was thinking more about us trading up in to the mid first or early twenties. Personally I don't see it because there's no-one that really excites me unless Cooper or Ansah fall.

Unless there's a Mallett trade, I can't see us moving up.
Reading Twitter, sounds like the Browns are interested in Smith, Manual, or trading up w/ Oakland for Ansah. That leaves trade partners for Mallett thin - bottom line I think it's highly unlikely we do a Mallett trade. And it being a buyers market, can't see us picking up much for trading down.

I am having a hard time seeing who would really want to do business with us at 29. It doesn't look like an ideal Trade out spot. Also Teams who have the 25 - 26 and the 27th selections ie...MINNESOTA - GREEN BAY and HOUSTON could easily go WR. Which is a definite NEED for both Minnesota and Houston.

Mayock has us taking Xavier Rhodes

If Rhodes somehow drops to 29, I think we have to take him. I just don't see it, but Mayock is usually dialed in pretty good.

I'd prefer Justin Pugh that Daniel Jeremiah gave us in the round table mock NFL Network did.

Not a fan of Pugh at #29 at all. Short arms and in my opinion, we have much more pressing needs with minimal picks. I like Pugh as a player, but not at #29.

Having said that, I hated the year we took Mankins in the 1st. I thought it was an awful pick. Shows you what I know.

Mayock being dialed in about a player versus the utter unpredictability of BB. . . . This reminds me of the idea of a perpetual motion machine consisting of a piece of buttered toast taped to the back of a cat.

I respectfully disagree. We only have one pressing need and that's at WR. All other positions are filled to some degree. There are other positions that can be upgraded for sure and in terms of the long-term, OG is one of those. Pugh is a great Patriots fit.

We'll have to agree to disagree. A guard can be had later in the draft. Like I said, my track history is nothing to gloat about though. I love your posting and have great respect for your draft knowledge. Question for you. What are your thoughts on Sheldon Richardson?

Terrible fit for the Patriots. Really good athletic prospect for more traditional 4-3 teams but he has no interest in disciplined two gap play - he just wants to get upfield. doubt he's even on our board.

Really? Wow. I did not realize that. Of the two Florida State DE's, who do you prefer and why? I love both of them and hope one is there at #29 tonight.

Carradine quite comfortably. Werner isn't a very good run defender and tends to give up once the pass rush is over. Carradine is very similar to Chandler Jones in my eyes and I quite like the idea of having bookend Chandler Jones'.

I could see Buffalo and Jacksonville moving up for Nassib/Barkley. Philly moving up for EJ Manuel and maybe even Arizona moving up and reaching for Glennon (who they have been linked to late).
