Thought I'd share the list of guys I've watched that I want to see end up on the Pats this weekend. The distinctions between day 1,2,3,UDFA are fluid but it looks neater that way. There's also obvious positional bias, but that's more because I don't have the time to scout positions of non-need. Go war room and go Pats!

Day 1

DT: Richardson (Mizzou), Williams (UNC)
DE: Carradine (FSU), Hunt (SMU)
S: Cyprien (Florida Intl)

Day 2

WR: Bailey (WVU), Stills (Oklahoma), Harper (Kansas State), Rogers (Tennessee Tech)
LB: Greene (Rutgers), Alonso (Oregon)
DE: Edwards (LSU)
S: Evans (Florida), Jefferson (Oklahoma)

Day 3

WR: Brown (Georgia)
OG: Watford (James Madison)
OT: Faulk (LSU)
DT: Okoye, Brooks (East Carolina), Jones (Bowling Green)
DE: Bryant (East Central)
LB: Holloman (South Carolina)
CB: Commings (Georgia), Melvin (Northern Illinois), Price (UCLA)
S: Boyett (Oregon), Slaughter (Notre Dame)

UDFA

TE: Williams (Alabama)
LB: Falemalu (Hawaii), Clay (Oregon)

Not too keen on your WR's but I like the rest of that list. Cyprien is interesting. He's currently #29 at NFL Draft scout and was the Patriots pick in Gil Brandt's latest mock.

edit: really like the Boyett and Bryant choices, those are too I like a fair bit, albeit as UDFA's.

How difficult would it be for BB to trade #29 if one of these guys were available?

Really like Rishardson even though he is considered a pure one gapper. On third down passing situations, he can make an impact.

Would we draft someone in the first for third downs and passing downs early? would we draft a pure one-gapper in the first round when the two gap is so fundamental to what we do? Personally I don't think so. interesting what others have to say.

TO contribute to the gap-discipline discussion, I like both Richardson and Williams as a complement to Wilfork and Jones. If Jones develops to meet his potential, you will have two players who are elite two-gappers for their position at RDE and LDT in Jones and Wilfork. Putting a 3-technique of Richardson's caliber between the two would make the front formidable vs. the run and the pass.

Defending the run and pass is about maximizing the utility towards the front towards each. Ideally, you make the front as small and quick/fast as it can be while still defending the run. Putting a "big body" between Vince and Jones is a waste of the opportunity to get after the QB having a long guy like Jones presents, not to mention the largest LB core in the NFL.
