I'm bored and have some free time today and since it's almost draft time I thought I'd review past proposals from this board. I came across OTG's last mock for 2011 and thought I would see how he graded out. See below.

One could have a field day doing this over the past several seasons. I salute you, and hope you don't dig up one of mine.

I won't as I normally don't have the time to linger on the internet. But OTG always has transformative mocks.

This one actually isn't too bad, sub Watt for Solder and get the OT in the second round. Curtis Marsh isn't worse than Ras I to date (doesn't say much) and maybe Ellis would be better with the Pats. Stanzi, McElroy, Mallet, all are back-up QBs. Sub Pinkston for Cannon. Jones doesn't quite equal Ridley, but is off-set with Kenricks. And who knows, maybe Romeus and Fannin will contribute one day. Overall I think Watt (I know he wasn't around at 13), makes OTG's class stronger than the actual one, even though alot of his picks would not have made the team.

With that amount of picks you'd think OTG owned an expansion team!

17.) Aldon Smith - Don't know why but i think he is great, played hurt this year, prototypical size, a top athlete at a position of need.

28.) Muhammad Wilkerson - Once again a talented player at a position of need. i am really trying to stock this defense with 1st round talent for the next 4 years so we aren't always relying on brady.

33.) trade for #51 and #83

51.) Rodney Hudson - Backup interior lineman hopefully to take Koppens job after a year on the pine.

60.) Bruce Carter - i am taking a shot on this guys athletic ability i know people will talk about fit but i dunno i think the guy is talented and am taking a shot

74.) Daniel Thomas - In my scenario our backs to start the season are faulk, woodhead, BJGE and morris as FB. Thomas replaces Taylor.

83.) Edmond Gates - Taking a flyer on him because we can. Hopefully he turns into the next Wallace. (more likely i would like to trade this for a 2012 2nd)

92.) Clint Boling - Lets us add another talent to our Interior Line. I think he's not bad value here.

125.) Greg Romeus - Taking a flier on someone everyone thought had a 1st round grade last year but hasn't done to well recently

159.) Owen Marecic - Let him fight it out in TC for either a ST possition or try to beat out Morris for FB

193.) insert best longsnapper available's name here... just for kicks

That was mine from the same draft. Would have been great but smith didni't make it to us anyway. All the other picks are Meh. At least i would have done OK in the 1st round.

That would not have been a meh draft... Smith, Wilkerson, and Carter are all EXCELLENT players.

Here's mine:

Pick 1 (12-15): I see the Patriots trading 17 and 28 for a modest trade up and getting a second round pick in return. This pick is Cameron Jordan DE California

Pick 2 (35-38): If all those QBs have gone in the first, this pick might not be traded. If it is, it will be down a few slots. Either way, the pick is Danny Watkins G Baylor

Pick 3 (40-50): I see an O-lineman falling. The Pats will package a later pick to move up and grab Gabe Carimi OL Wisconsin

Pick 4 (65-70): After a slight trade down, the choice is Edmond Gates WR Abilene Christian

Pick 5 (74): Blah, blah, blah, Shane Vereen RB California

Pick 6 (92): Rashad Carmichael CB Virginia Tech

Pick 7 (99-120): Greg Romeus OLB Pittsburgh

Pick 8 (125): David Carter DE UCLA

Pick 9 (145-155): Using a previously acquired pick, back up to get Greg McElroy QB Alabama

Pick 10 (193): Gabe Miller OLB Oregon

I remember we had some serious groupthink on Romeus, Watkins, and Bolling.

Here was mine (http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/13/750013-sams-2011-patriot-mock.html)-

Summary

22. (from Philadelphia) Muhammed Wilkerson DT/DE Temple
39. (from Tennessee) Ras I Dowling DB Virginia
45. (from San Francisco) Jabaal Sheard DE/ OLB Pittsburgh
60. Shane Vereen RB California.
74. James Carpenter OG/OT Alabama
76. (From San Francisco) Andrew Jackson OG Fresno St.
92. Martin Parker NT Richmond
125. Brandon Fusco OG/OC Slippery Rock
6th round (from trade of 85). Anthony Allen RB Georgia Tech
193. DeJon Gomes SS Nebraska
227. (from Philadelphia) Colin Franklin TE Iowa St.
also:
2012 Tennessee 1st rounder
2012 2nd rounder

Gee, You think I was looking toward getting interior Oline upgrades?

In hindsight. James Carpenter went @ 25 to Seattle- a little miss projecting hime @ 74. Jackson last to 210 to Atlanta. he is now on Bills roster. Fusco we all were warm and fuzzy about. He lasted to the Vikings pick @ 172. He did start all 16 games this past year. Gomes has been a backup strong safety for Laron Landry/ Meriweather. Because of injuries, he has made 10-12 starts the past two years. Best known for his tackle that took out AP's knee.

I just remembered mocking Cameron Jordan 17th and Mark Ingram 28th overall..... good thing I'm not GM, I guess....

Sure you weren't drafting for the Saints? :p

hahah yeah i was about to say you would have done the exact same job the saints GM did at a smidgeon of the cost.

Dont worry i never saw Solder coming and was clamoring for Jordan or Wilkerson instead of trading down.
