Legendary broadcaster Al Michaels arrested for DUI

A good defense lawyer will get this thrown out due to the inaccuracies of the machine. But, the point is, never blow, never do field sobriety, even if you think you're ok.

Don't they arrest you if you don't take it?

SNF has a good crew calling the game.

But God forbid the loudmouths running NBC Sports were to foist that know-nothing Florio (from the rag sheet PFT) on viewers as the 3rd voice. Viewers would tune out in droves or view the game in silence.

Do you believe in driving drunk??? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Correct, it is at and minutely above an arbitrarily low limit.

Another reason to be glad we don't live overseas. Germany has a ridiculously low limit. So how much does a 190 LB guy have to drink over a couple hours to blow a .08?

It's a shame supposed smart, famous, rich people don't know how to call a cab. Such a dumb move by Michaels. Everybody makes mistakes, nobody is perfect. I hope his career isn't affected.

He blew a .08

Didn't exactly stumble out the door puking on himself.

You should never drink and drive. In Sweden we have .02 as the limit. I beleive that it's a good limit. It's really easy. If you drink, don't drive. You loose a bit of control over your body so quickly when you drink and that's not a good combination with driving. You don't have to be piss drunk to be unfit to drive. A small beer, sure that's ok. But not more.

Luckily Germans rarely if ever drink.

They might, but who cares? They will have to prove you were drunk to a jury and will be without their strongest piece of evidence. I don't think they can introduce the fact that you refused to take the breathalyzer.

I'm talking about criminal consequences only. Some states (including Mass) have civil penalties (license suspension) if you refuse the breathalyzer.

An occasional thread about the actual sport of football every now and then would be nice. Or has this sight has turned into a full on gossip column?

You going to the game tonight?

I'm excusing it. It's like a couple beers. I practically blow that during my morning commute.

According to this it isn't just a couple beers:

BAC Charts Blood Alcohol Calculator

No idea how big Al Michaels is, but if this chart is accurate, and he's a decent sized guy (180-200), it would mean several beers over just an hour or 2.

(btw, I also read that he performed poorly on field sobriety tests. In my youth, I twice had to do those -- once I was driving and shouldn't have been, the other, believe it or now, I was walking (and drunk -- I was an underaged college student). Both times, I passed easily and didn't wind up being tested further.)

Bring in Marv Albert this year and let him call end of superbowl when says.....
"YES! And New England Patriots Are Super Bowl Champions"

They cause enough damage as it is, can you imagine? Now thats a country that should be prescribed weed to calm their stupid down.

Michaels might see that as backbiting. See what i did there?

Agreed. I have always taken a cab down to the bar as well as back. It's only a $% fare each way, and to my mind, that $10 is the BEST insurance money you can spend. Heck, it's less than a shot of top-shelf liquor and you know you'll be getting home without a detour to the local lock-up.

Even if the fare were more, I'd still pay it. It's just not worth the risk of hurting someone else.

If they didnt want you to drive drunk why do bars have parking lots?

Insanely low? I'd hate to read what you thought of Australia's 0.05 limit.

My mother was from Oz. Remembering her stories, I'm surprised you all have a limit down there. :D

Of course, her father owned a rather large section of land in the Tweed River area and made his own whiskey, so there's that.......
