Keenan Allen Red-Flagged For a Failed drug Test At Combine

Hopefully it was just pot like Hernandez and we get a great value in the second after a trade down.

That could work out in our favor...

Hernandez failed his during Florida's season, so he didn't face any league discipline.

This guy hasn't played one snap in the NFL, and he will already be under the substance abuse program due to a failed drug test at the combine.

Damn! So much for Hopkins being available in the 1st when the Pats pick, now.

Never been a big fan of Allen's out of all the WR's available in this draft. That said, if he drops like a bad habit because of this, I would love for the team to take a flyer on him. That would certainly open up the team to use it's first or second rounder on a WR (depending on if they trade out), their second pick on a DE/CB/S, and maybe the third on Allen.

To fail one at the combine is beyond moronic.

Remember when Justin Houston and Christian Ballard both failed combine tests. Both were late first/early 2nd rounders like Allen. Houston fell to the 3rd and Ballard fell to the 4th.

True, but in all honestly I was never an Allen fan.

I was banking on him being drafted by a WR needy team early in hopes of Hopkins falling to the Pats.

Probably not gonna happen now.:(

It's draft season. Quite possible Schefter's source floated this without any substantiation. FWIW, Allen's agent denies it.

Keenan Allen's agent, JT Johnson, denied his client failed any drug test. Results of recent test unknown. Some had Allen as draft's No. 1 WR

JT Johnson said Keenan Allen was retested this month for previous ankle and knee injuries and it had nothing to do with any drug test.

Neither was I. Like him more late second or third but I much prefer Hopkins and Woods. Wheaton is different so I'm not going to compare them.

I'm in the same boat. Although I don't discount his talent. He is an excellent receiever and the failed drug test doesn't bother me as much as it should. It's the knee issue and the poor 40 time. Again I've mentioned this several times. He hurt the knee in November and he is still not feeling right? I'm not a doctor nor a professional athlete. I had a shoulder issue for 2 years that hurt like a sob. 2 Mri's were negative only showing a slight impingement, therapy didn't help. Finally they went in there and low and behold a partially torn biceps tendon and a torn labrum. 6 months later, better. 1 year later, good as new. Just my personal experience. Mri's are very effective but not 100%. Snowboarders beware of the half pipes.

When watching one of the ESPN NFL shows, this is exactly what Hasslebeck stated.
It's the 4.7 fourty time that'll get him and not smoking weed

Unbelievable value if he fell all the way to 59. I'm fine with him at 29. Hopefully a trade down to 38-42 range and grab him. Picture landing Allen and Wheaton :)

Yeah, and a couple of db's in the 3rd. CB and Safety.

I hope we take him. I wouldn't be surprised with our 1st. I think he'll make a great target for Brady with his large catch radius and YAC ability.

He is scheduled to workout for us now as well I read earlier today. The Bengals need a wide receiver too and they will likely take him at 21 with this new coming out.

Bengals hve more options than we di, so ey could go with hopkins.

If it turns out that he was Rockin' the Ganj....... Then Bill will make sure he is targeted on draft day.

Might as well pencil him into the roster now :p

Bill smokes the skunk, why not his players? BFD (I'm talking in general, not what it can do to a prospects drop on draft boards).....it's only weed...Ricky Williams does it and Bill tried to get him too. Doesn't Steve B look high all the time? So does Bill. Maybe that's what effects his speech when doing interviews. A couple of bong hits after games and he don't remember what happened except "they're a good team, good offense, good defense, special teams. They're good all around". And he hangs with Bon Jovi, all those Jersey guys are potheads.

He looked a lot faster than 4.7 in games. Maybe his knee is still bothering him? Difference between 4.5 and 4.7 in a 40 is about 2-3 yards. If his knee isn't 100% that would explain it.

Anyway, he would be interesting if he slips to the 2nd, some sites still have him as the #1 WR.
