Pardon my ignorance but why why why do we lose seemingly everybody to the Jets? It seems as though there is a connection somewhere between the two teams that has gone on for a long time. It's almost a given that when somebody leaves you can pretty much count on them going there. Could somebody enlighten me please.

Two Words explain it,"Mutual Hatred" !

Good question.
I'll be interested to view the suggested explanations.

During the season i termed this phenomenon
roster incest.

It certainly helps keep the New England - New York rivalry at a boil.

For those keeping score (since the merger):

Superbowl wins:

Patriots THREE

Jets ZERO

Hall of Fame coaches:

Patriots - ONE

Jests - ZERO

We win!!!

they play us tough..as do Bills and Dolphins. division games are always tough b/c teams are familiar with each other and have that extra hate

Well I think when BB did not take the Jets job and wanted to come and work for Mr. Kraft and the Patriots gave up the #1 pick to the Jets then that was the start of the Hate in the BB era and since BB and Parcells have interest in the same type of players well it just seems like we have been seeing players go between the two teams and now the Jets have another Ex Patriot as coach the system continues thats my thoughts on the situation.

Since bb came, I suspect we took as many from the jets as they have from us. We've hsd the same coaches and the same systems.

Of course it really started on Feb 6th, 1997, when the story broke that "the coach"* was leaving the Patriots and going to the Jets.

* "the coach" is used here in the same manner as the very same "the coach" referred to "the player" during the season just past.

you have no idea what its like here. im a pats fan in jersey, the only patriot games i get to see are preseason giant games (sometimes) and the jet game. every year it seems like theres some other guy who i cheered my ass for a year ago, who is now wearing some ugly ass green uniform. makes me sick. loved mangini in NE, now he just looks like a big sour apple flavored lollypop on the sideline.

I'm pretty sure Bill Parcells will be a Hall of Fame coach. So if you're going to assume Belichick (which is obvious) makes it, then Parcells does too. I guess the score should be 2-1 in the Hall of Fame coach category if we're inducting people before they are actually inducted.

I'm not sure, but doesn't Belichick have a defensive gameplan in the HOF already?

Not sure about seemingly loose everybody to the Jets, players and coaches move around.. we have lost a few to Miami, Seattle, Buffalo etc. Our coaches move on as well, it is what it is. American Capitalism at its finest, the loss of Daboll meets our need for Pats news, however in the big scheme it is not all that big a deal.

Definite "roster incest" with the Jets, from the coaches on down. We have a former JEST head coach (okay, for one day... but he coached under the Tuna there a couple seasons.) It took me years to get over the Parcells raid, then the Curtis Martin defection (seemingly fixed by Robert Edwards -- talk about the injury bug! You have to wonder how long til a SB if Edwards stayed healthy...) Then we got the best of them getting Belichick here (stroke of genius to realize he was the guy winning the super bowls, not Tuna.)

By the way, if you're jonesing for football this summer, Edwards is what passes as a superstar in the CFL now - go Alouettes!

And speaking of rivalry... Edwards last seen in the NFL scoring twice, while Ricky Williams was in some way injured or pouting.... then getting kicked back to the bench upon Williams' return. Wonder how Edwards and Ricky feel about each other when their teams play?

PFnV

(Sorry, what was the question?)

Simple answer really; the Jets are the biggest example of the word losers in the post AFL/NFL merger (ZERO super bowl appearances since, with only the Browns, Jags, Texans, ALL expansion teams, also having zero appearances). Think about that for a minute; what a pack of losers.

Being the total, pathetic losers that they are, they feel to be winners, they will raid the team with the most success in the AFC the past six years, the Patriots, who are also their most bitter rival. Make us weaker and themselves stronger at the same time.

The problem is, the Jets being the total losers that they are, continue to take stiffs from our team, the most recent rumor is they are after Banta Cain, who the last time I saw him, was a turnstyle for LT to run through all day.

Losers..............

If the Jets got Asante Samuel or Graham, then I would be concerned.

I just hope Brady never goes to them in the twilight of his career, that would really sting.

what is it with the jets anyway, typically they make me cringe........
and to top it off, (i'm a fan from the Grogan days) I married a jets fan.

there is a "@$%#(*+" Pennington Jersey in our closet
there are 2 sundays a year, i have to say, "what was i thinking!"

Yes he does. For the giants win over Buffalo in the Super Bowl. Poulin was Buffalo's GM at the time.

I just watched 'America's Game ,The 1990 New York Giants" last night.Bill Belichick played 2 Defensive Lineman in The Super Bowl against The Bills and it took Marv Levy two quarters to figure out that He should run Thurman Thomas. That is the gameplan that is in The Hall Of Fame

Having a gameplan in the Hall of Fame is not the same as being a Hall of Fame coach.
