Report: Pats sign DT Tommy Kelly

Was about to post myself.

Ya-freaking-hoo, if he's ready to play, we should have a much better pass rush up the middle.

If he can get his head out of his ass, straighten up and be ready to ball for a winner, look out. Wilfork-Kelly tandem would devour the inside.

Only downside is that both he and Wilfork are now in their 30s. I still want a young DT to develop.

Source: #Patriots and former #Raiders DT Tommy Kelly agree to a two-year deal, I'm told. Great fit.

If this is true then I am a happy man. I have been saying that this is one of the biggest weaknesses on the team. They need to put someone next to Wilfrok and what they did last year did not work for me.

Go draft a young stud wr now! One with size please!

Another meh signing, he's a bum. Maybe he'll be as good as Haynesworth:rolleyes:

I like it. Now give me Abraham and one more depth signing at CB, and we're free to draft a couple WR high in the draft IMO.

That's simply not true. He's not a bum. For crissakes, at least display a semblance of being fair.

He'll start for us if his crappy play in 2012 was more about mailing it in then deteriorating.

 right he's going to be very good like Haynesworth was supposed to be when he "gets his head on right" and "gets rejuvenated because he's playing for a contender". Please he might be ok at best probably better than Deadrick and Love but that's saying next to nothing.

Erika Leigh just confirmed this! It's official!

So, being OK and better than Deaderick and Love make him "a bum?"

Up until last year, he was one of the more underrated defensive linemen in the league. I certainly wouldn't call him a bum. Hopefully, last year was an aberration, but if they get the Tommy Kelly of 2010 and 2011 (had 14.5 sacks over those two years), the Pats will have a fearsome interior of the line.

Armond Armstead says hi.

I said might be ok and probably better than the JAGs we have next to Wilfork. He sucked last year I'm not going to assume he's going to be good again because he's with us like some people around here.

Don't waste your time. Brady2Moss never heard of the guy.

It's fair that folks turn back the clock to their most productive years after they've past their prime. If he does then great. More likely he won't and be what he was in Oakland last year.

I see little comparisons to Haynesworth. Haynesworth got his big deal and went to crap. Kelly had his two best years (2010 and 2011) after he got big money from the Raiders. He had a mediocre year last year, but he was a stud in 2010 and 2011.

Not only that, but he's played all 16 games for the past 5 years, so he's durable. Two big bodies in the middle for 16 games frees up players on the edge.
