I've successfully traded down out of the first for Tampa's 2nd and 3rd.... i am now up the best players left are:

Jamar Taylor - CB
Kawann Short - DT
Sylvester Williams - DT
Justin Hunter - WR
Robert Wood - WR
Darius Slay - CB
DJ Hayden - CB
Kevin Minter - ILB

really unsure who to pick

For me it would be between S. Williams, Woods or Hunter. If there's been a run on receivers I'd probably go Woods, but difficult choices. I realize I didn't help at all.

Good luck!

Could you post the entire draft so far and what picks you have left so we could get a better idea of how it is going to play out. Just to see if there have been any runs on positions and who could still be there at your next pick. Right now I would say you are in a pretty good position and I would look to got DT and WR with your first two picks. Unless there has been a run at WR I would probably look at Short/Williams (depends on preference) here and go WR at your next pick with hopefully Hunter, Woods or another WR is still there. This is why I love the trade down option, the talent difference between here and #29 isn't very big and you get another valuable pick in the mid 3rd. I wouldn't be against another trade down if it were available either, but with Short still there I would probably go him #43 and double up at WR at picks 59 and 73.

i expect atleast the texans to pick a WR before our next pick of the round so I'm inclined to take a WR... cannot choose between Hunter and Woods at the minute

Seriously.

This could actually be a very fun and interesting Thread, Leemo, but your persistence in giving us crap for information is killing what Interest there might otherwise be.

Just post who's already been drafted, and anyone who wants to offer you advice can decide for themselves who the remaining Players of Interest are. You can't expect good advice if you don't accurately explain the situation.

Well done, taking the Trade Down, though.

Wow...obviously the trade-down was the right call. I'm a fan of Taylor, Williams, and Woods. I think WR and CB are our biggest needs, but I think Williams is the best value here.

I think I'd probably go with Williams, and then after Taylor or Woods go off the board, trade up for the other one.

i decided on Hunter as if Woods goes before my next pick I can probably get Da'Rick Rogers in the 3rd round who is more similar to Woods, where as Hunter doesn't really have anyone similar atleast not this early in the draft. If Woods is there come our next pick in the round I probably pull the trigger... but may go for Short, Williams or Jamar Taylor

Great choice on hunter! If Jamar Taylor is still there or even Shorts I would pull the trigger on any of them as well.

I like the Hunter pick and there are still plenty of WR available so you should be able to hold off until pick 73 to get a compliment receiver. I would look best available DT or CB at 59 or maybe even consider another trade down if nobody falls. Then look to grab a Da'Rick Rogers, Quinton Patton, Terrence Williams type guy at 73. So far I think it has fallen pretty nicely from a Pats perspective.

If we get Hunter/Rogers as a combination this year, we'll be in the same position next year - looking for two WR's.

There will be undoubtedly be a thread titled: "Mocking the Pats for who they drafted" coming soon.:D

You don't give either of them a chance at being quality NFL receivers?

That's not what I'm saying. they might perform well for other teams but I'm thinking about the Patriots specifically and I don't think either have the intelligence to perform well in our testing system. Rogers in the 3rd might be a risk worth taking but I really don't like the Hunter pick in the first or early second.

I can see your point, I'm just interested to see what our offense actually looks like. I have a feeling we may be altering our approach somewhat and these type of WR that we traditionally haven't had may be a fit. I don't see Amendola as a straight swap for Welker and I think something definitely needs to change for this offense to go to the next level (able to compete against top defenses).

I am hoping they do go for more size and athleticism on the outside to give this offense a dimension we haven't had. I love the idea of a guy like Hunter with a huge catch radius that doesn't need a perfect ball. And the physicality of a guy like Rogers who can work the entire field and add an attitude and toughness we lack, especially without Welker. Whatever approach we take I think its clear we need greater production on the outside, it just depends on how they want to do that.

I keep seeing this, but what evidence is there for it? The way I see it, BB is moving to an offense almost exactly the same as previously. Amendola might not be a Welker clone, but he's probably the closest thing to Welker available in FA. Like last year, we signed some FA's that may or may not make the team and we've had contact with the quicker smaller Branch like receivers than we have the taller and more linear #1 types. I don't see any evidence for a "new" type of offense.

I think the fact that our offense hasn't been able to perform in big games is evidence enough that we need a change. Kind of like the old quote:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results

I think there are obvious deficiencies in our passing game that need to be addressed and if we don't we will continue to fall in the big moments. The blueprint is out there to beat our offense, the problem for most teams is they don't have the personnel to do it. But to win in the big games we still need to find a way to face up against physical man coverage, a way to stretch the field, a way utilize more of the field instead of congesting the middle and a way to add greater depth to our passing attack so when injuries inevitably happen we can adequately cover them. Now these are just my opinions and I only mock and project based on my beliefs. I have realized trying to predict what BB will do is a futile task and I have wasted way too much time in the past trying to do that.

Good pick on taking a WR (though I think Woods is a better fit for us) as from looking at the board I imagine there will be a run on WRs in between this pick and your next. Doubtful that Short or Sylvester Williams will be available either on your next pick though too :(

Williams went to the panthers the pick after my Hunter pick. Menelick Watson went next.

My plan is to take Robert Woods if hes still there next, that or Kawann Short. If both are gone its likely to be the best CB available. Or even another WR
