...or Chris Canty, for that matter.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Nearly 1,000 Patriots season-ticket holders packed the Putnam Investments club inside of Gillette Stadium on Saturday afternoon as part of the ESPN Boston 2013 Draft Preview, hosted by Trey Wingo of ESPN and featuring a panel comprised of ESPN college football analyst Trevor Matich (a former Patriots first-round draft choice), colleague Mike Reiss and longtime Patriots linebacker and current ESPN NFL analyst Tedy Bruschi.

For those who don't know, the Patriots had a mid first rounder and saw no one they liked, so they traded down for C Trevor Matich. Matich started 11 games in 4 seasons and was such a good lineman, he switched to long snapper (elsewhere).

Meanwhile, San Fransisco took the pick we didn't want and selected Jerry Rice.

Thanks for the curse, ESPN.

Chris Canty was picked in the 29th position in the 1997 draft. This year, for the first time since 1997, we are drafting 29th. If Belichick can't do better than Canty, he should resign as GM.

Well, seeing as the worst first-round pick he's made in over a decade is either Brandon Meriweather or Laurence Maroney, I think we have every reason to believe that yes, Belichick will draft a better player than Canty.

Not a former bad draft pick, so forget about it.

The idea is, former horrible draft pick hosting our draft event.

Just because Matich didn't work out as a draft pick doesn't mean that he's not a good college analyst.

And, if I'm not mistaken, Chung is a College Coach currently..

Methinks you are complaining for the sake of complaining..

*****ing and complaining is fun. Just over half the human race specializes in it!

Uh, oh.

Wow, do I need to construct a joke road map on this one?

It's a joke. It's the off season.

Every comment here isn't an attack on someone. People need to ease up.

So, DaBruinz, any updates on Hart Lee Dykes?

Chung is an assistant offensive line coach on the Chiefs.

Apparently, Hart Lee Dykes is an advocate for the Jimmy Fund and autism. I really feel awful about my insensitivity now. I hope all these former 1st round draft picks will forgive me.

Anybody know what happened to that receiver San Francisco picked in our spot? I think his name was Rice.

Chris Canty ha played for the Las Vegas Gladiators of the Arena Football League and the Rio Grande Valley Dorados of af2 (The Arena developmental league) both fine organizations.

No word on whether he's managed to land a coaching or broadcasting spot.

Oh, and that receivers name was Jerry Rice.

Couldn't tell if he's managed to land a full time broadcasting or coaching spot, his Wiki was so full of awards and statistics from his playing days.

So, DaBruinz, any updates on Hart Lee Dykes?

You stole mine :) I still have high hopes for the kid... :p

Ditto the Big Cat, Andy Katzenmoyer...

Hart Lee is a wonderful human being.:)

I was going for Dennis Byrd, but that wouldn't get much recognition here.

I thought it was the Rio Grande Valley Doritos that he played for.
