Being an Aussie I loves me some Jessie Williams. I would be very happy if we could get him or another big hoss like John Jenkins in the late 2nd round or early 3rd.

My preferred alignment is still the Seattle 4-3 Under though and I think we are very close to having the personnel to do it. We really only need that Red Bryant 5-tech for the base defense and we are set.

I like Jesse Williams if the Patriots are looking for a 2nd guy with good mobility that can take up a lot of space to team up alongside Wilfork. It all depends on how the Pats want to utilize that other DT slot because Armstead can be utilized in the LDE/LDT role.

Either way - those answers will come when practice takes place. In my view, they want Armstead on the inside next to Wilfork because if they are looking for guys to clog the middle, then they have that already with Love, Deadrick et al.

I like this look a lot too. My only thought is that Armstead could 5 technique at LDE being that he is 6'5 300lbs but provide more of a pass rush than Bryant does out in Seattle.

I also really like the idea of bringing Hightower in blitzes from the SLB position right shadowing the LDE I think he could deliver 8-10 sacks with that type of role.

Hightower was an outstanding stunt blitzer at Alabama as well, particularly up the middle. I am very hopeful that he is deployed on a more consistent basis in his second year in that capacity as well....

Where does the pass rush come from?

Usually the undertackle is a gap shooter, which I think is why BB was moving Cunningham inside on passign downs, to try and shoot the gap.

The purpose of the 4-3U is to try and create 1 on 1 match-ups with your best pass rushers. Having two monsters on the strong side that demand double teams means that your 3-tech and Leo are 1 on 1 with the tackle and guard on the weakside. That means unless the offense leaves in a 2nd TE to block, Chandler Jones will predominantly be one on one with the OT and Armond Armstead with the OG. If those two can't create some pressure in that situation they shouldn't be on the team. Then you add Hightower virtually as a 5th DL at SLB being blocked by either the TE or RB. Add in the versatility to blitz different LBers and the in the box SS and I think their is more than enough ways to create pressure from this base alignment. Its just a matter of if our players are good enough to take advantage of these matchups.

Its also important to remember this is just the base defense, our main issue last year was getting pressure in sub packages and on obvious passing downs. That is where we will hopefully have someone like Abraham come in opposite Chandler Jones to replace Williams.

He's not just a NT type DT though. Williams played the 5 Tech DE spot in 2011 and was very good there. He just moved inside in 2012 because that's where Alabama needed him to play. This guy is just tapping into to hit potential I think and will surprise some people wherever he goes.

Jones kind of reminds me of a stronger Willie McGinest as an elephant backer. Where Willie had huge troubles setting the edge on running plays, Jones seems better at it already than McGinest ever was.

Now Jones may never be the pass rusher Willie was, but before Jones hurt his ankle, he showed me that his strength is strength and I think that surprised some OT's early in the season.

I could see Jones being a 3-4 OLB, as long as he has no coverage responsibilities.

I will say this for Williams, he plays strong!

Some guys are weight room strong but it does not translate well to the field.

Williams is the opposite, when he plays, he is so strong and tough to move and opens up roonm for the MLB to have roam.

I don't know if Williams can be a 5 technique in the NFL, I kind of doubt it. But since we appear to be a 4-3 team now, I do know that Wilfork is starting to show signs of wear and tear and Williams seems like a much better option than Love or Deaderick.

The difference there is that McGinest was standing up and Jones has his hand in the dirt. It's just a detail but it makes a world of difference.
