I'm mock drafting for the patriots - opinions needed...

So in the first rounds its always been my intention to try and trade out picking up a second and a third rounder.. I have been offered the buccaneers 2nd and 3rd round picks for pick #29.... I think I take the trade but Desmond Trufant has fallen... he's making me think twice...

Trade down and pick up Jamar Taylor if you want that aggressive type of CB. Alternatively, stock up at other positions and get Kayvon Webster much later - he's been worked out by BB (just like Dennard was).

1 ~ As a Rule of Thumb, I would take virtually any Trade Down that aligned with Book Value, because I believe that Book Value generally underestimates the True Value of Latter Round Picks.

2 ~ The Trade proposed ~ #29 for #43 & #73, I believe ~ nets you 65 Points above Book Value.

3 ~ Ergo: It's a No Brainer. Each Draft is different, but there's very little difference between #29 & #43 this Year ~ and most Years ~ so if someone is stupid enough to offer you that deal...pounce!!

Sure - I think that was the default user id that I got when I initially signed up for registration in 2010. I was a long-time member of the Patriots community at ESPN going back to 1999 under the user id bruschi_warrior (I went to school with him at the UofA and was there for Desert Swarm).

The Cardinal logo is because I went to Joseph Case High School in Swansea, Massachusetts and our team mascot are the Cardinals. It is not the Arizona Cardinal logo....

Finally - I use to be a sports reporter in the Boston market. I worked at NESN and the Patriot Ledger in Quincy. I use to work alongside Ron Hobson, who was the Patriots beat writer for the Ledger.

Trufant seems like a good match for the Patriots but he will be gone. As I have said before CBs usually go earlier than projected because teams are so desperate for CB help.

I think that the Patriots trade down if Trufant is gone and probably trade down anyway.
