The Boston Herald made a comment in one of their articles that this was the first time in three years that the Patriots won't be losing a coordinator.

With all the coaching changes and vacancies in the NFL this off season, I was surprised Pees' name didn't come up for any of them. I think you could argue he did an amazing job with the defense this season, despite an overwhelming number of injuries.

Not that I want him to go, obviously, but I'm just curious as to why his name hasn't been thrown around at all.

Too new to the position?

Not enough credit given for a defensive coordinator under Belichick?

Public statements from Pees about no desire to move?

Too old. Not sexy enough.

Romeo is sexy? Mangina is sexy?

:X
They call the second one the "Boy Genius." So yes.

Pees, like Crennel, will only get hired after several good years in the system, not just one.

EDIT: Now I see what you did there.

Only a position coach lost this year!:woohoo:

I was a big supporter of Pees' work as DC throughout the regular season. I thought it had gone largely unnoticed because Belichick is a defensive guru.

It was disappointing to see his 2nd-half performance against Indy though, it may have hurt his stock among NFL teams. Honestly, our D gave up 5 sustained scoring drives totaling 32 points in one half. That's on par with the Denver Broncos from 03/04 and Larry Coyer isn't a head coach anywhere.

Consider the chargers, who lost all three at the top, Pees and McDaniels have some shortcomings, but I prefer consistency.

It's very simple actually

No one in the NFL can take a Pees without getting permission from Belichick

Umm. . . . given what Pees had to work with (incl. injuries and cr*p calls from the refs), I'm going to give him a pass.

The lack of interest in Pees is as shocking to me as it is wonderful.

Considering how much griping there has been about our old slow linebackers and our injury problems in the secondary isn't the fact that Pees pulled off a D that gave up the fewest points in Patriots history a minor miracle?

I mean, this is one of the most underreported stories about the Pats all year.
He may turn out to be better than both Crennel and Mangini.

One reason I wasn't so bummed out about the game is that there was so much working against the Pats on both sides of the ball, the team clearly wasn't destined to win.

Mangini is one sexy dude. Especially when he has a Dunkin Donuts crueller (sp) shoved in his mouth.

What held RAC back a few years was the prevailing presumption that BB was the genius and Romeo was just running his defense with his players. Romeo in Cleveland has done little to debunk that theory. Mangenius on the other hand was a boy wonder X's and O's geek in his own right and managed to get the JETS to the playoffs against pretty stiff odds. So likely if we loose another coordinator it will be the youngster on the fast track who replaced Charlie - although the fact that we continue to perform reasonably well against all odds on offense would also lead you to believe it's the system and the players Belioli and Co. coach up there too moreso than the guy occupying the coordinators slot.
