Every year the Lions and Cowboys host Thanksgiving Day games, and they alternate between which team hosts an AFC team. This year the Cowboys are to host an AFC team on turkey day, and the Patriots and Jets are scheduled to play in Dallas this year.

Between the Pats and Jets, I think the edge has to go to the Pats, but the Jets are a playoff team too, so who knows.

Make that 100%. The NFL is all about ratings. Just think if the Jets and Pats both have crappy seasons next year, which team would the average fan still tune in and watch?

I don't know about 100% but with the NFL adding a third game on T-day on NFLN, I think the odds are pretty good of it happening. I wonder if the NFL would poach the NE-Dal game for their own network at night leaving the day games to be Det-?? and another game......Just a thought

I was almost thinking that if Parcells/Bledsoe were still with Dallas, this game would be more apt to be a Sunday Night game.

Without Parcells/Bledsoe, this game would be fine for Turkey Day.

I was confused at first but I take it, that what you're saying is, Turkey Day games get high ratings no matter what, so put the better matchup on to boost the Sunday night game.

I get it now - my initial reaction was that the better game goes on Thanksgiving but I understand what you're suggesting now.

Given last year's reception by the fans, and the fact that the NFL Network is still trying to work past it's growing pains, I don't think they'd be that bold!

The Jets are probably more likely to be the Thanksgiving game because they bring the NY market.

Just what our team needs a short rest week in the late end of the season.
PASS!

I agree the Jets and NY can have it, better for the Pats to play on Sunday.

Playing on Thanksgiving day does mean a short week but you also get a longer week than your oppponent the following week. I think CBS has a lock on the AFC Thanksgiving game.

NFLN has broadcast on division games so far IIRC.

Good observation- seems to be a safe move by the NFL in attempts to prevent primetime disasters such as the Baltimore-Green Bay 48-3 crapfest on MNF in Dec '05 (a game I actually attended).

I'm hoping they don't play on thanksgiving. We have a big squad looking to make this road trip as long it's not on Thanksgiving. I'll do Miami as long as not Sept or early Oct. The Giants game is not even really a road trip as I can drive down and stay at my buddies midtown condo.

Had heard this before somewhere, but was too lazy to do the homework, it is a crapshoot for either team, both will draw a lot to the TV on Thanksgiving. Personally if we do this, then I hope it is after a bye week, but not sure if bye weeks go this far into the season. Tired of crappy thanksgiving day games.

Honestly, the teams playing on Thanksgiving should have their bye weeks be the week before.

It's always fun to see the crew in the throwbacks.

Troy Brown the last time.

I wouldn't schedule the Jets on thanksgiving because they could be really bad next year if chad goes down, and that isn't exactly outside the realm of possibility. next year will likely be a let-down year for them anyway.

i therefore expect a DAL-NYJ thanksgiving day game.
