What's your favorite Pat's offseason move so far ?

Losing Thomas will need to be addressed somehow.

He was a backup. Maybe a starter-caliber backup, but a backup nevertheless. I am fully confident that Scar has this covered. :)

I'll go with Adrian Wilson adding some nasty style to the secondary.

Amendola isn't here to replace Welker, he should be playing more often on the outside. He doesn't have to have 140 catches to be better than Welker, he just needs to score TDs and catch the ball outside the numbers.

Torsten has the right idea.

1) Brady's restructure.

2) My favorite re-signing is Talib.

3) My favorite Free Agent signing would be Wilson.

I think this secondary right now has as much talent as it has had since Law left. Wilson needs to prove he still has enough left in the Tank. McCourty needs to show improvement following his first full offseason as a Safety. Talib needs to stay on the field. Dennard needs to stay out of Jail. Arrington needs to stay in the slot. That seems like I am asking for alot but I think they all are very likey to happen. I think we should draft one more corner just to add depth but this group is really good in the group of 5 starters (including the nickel) and then they have Gregory and Tavon as depth and since they are both safeties I say one more Corner is needed (making 8 DBs in total). Cole, Ebner, Ras-IR, and a few others can fight out for the last one or 2 DB spots.

IMO the only need we have left is WR. we should and likely will add a Pass Rusher but we need another WR. Everything else is pretty much well stocked except for the above corner, and maybe some interior DL depth and interior OL depth (which can come via the draft). Thats not to say that you cant make a move anywhere else either just I think we have a fairly full roster in alot of places.

I think it was Reiss who pointed it out. But I think it should be noted in this thread too. Locking up Mayo a year or two ago before he would have been a free agent this year has to be up there too. When compared to the franchise tag or the Ellerbe contract that has to be considered one of if not the best move for this offseason.

Getting talib back or a CB who can play man aka him

LMAO at those claiming Amendola has a "higher upside" than Welker. If Amendola plays his best he might be able to replace a big chunk of Welker's production, but that's it. The idea that he is going to have 140 REC, 1500+ yards and lead the league in YAC and first downs by a mile is batsh.t crazy.
he will have been really successful if he simply can replace 80-90% of Welker's production, and setting the bar for him at higher production than Welker is flat out ridiculous. And calling it "a wash" is equally ridiculous. If in three years Amendola has 360 REC, 3,600 yards and has led the league in first downs and YAC for 3 years it will be "a wash," but to this point Amendola has done nothing to suggest this is a break even situation. If you have to lose Welker then bringing in Amendola is a decent effort to mitigate that loss, but there is nothing in his history that makes it "even."

I like Amendola and think he will do a good job for them but claims like this and Ken's claim that Amendola's production exceeds Welker's in some instances are simply not supported by the facts, and anyone who says otherwise really needs to back it up with facts, which to this point none have.

Oh. So you're smarter than BB. K.

Yet he played as good or better than Mankins.

He signed to be the starter.

I also recall reading a story on Mike Leach's (Texas Tech coach for both WW and DA) comments on both players, and he said the same thing as I did, sans Amendola's professional career injuries.

So...

You're a moron.

Why, welker shrunk in the spotlight. Heck branch could have made that catch in 2011. And how good is he? Maybe you are a little out there. I can't believe you resort to name calling. I lmao at you. :D

Changed it for you,. I would love you to provide a quote from Mike Leach where he says that DA is remotely in WW's league. Really.

Not recommending Leach's book, but in it he says that Welker is by far the toughest, hardest working, and most complete football player he ever coached--you know, the type of guy that BB supposedly loves. Paraphrasing, but Leach also said that WW is hands down the best he's ever coached in terms of intangibles and leadership by example.

My favorite is Armond Armstead so far.

A. Wilson. Brings strength over the middle, a good work ethic and valuable experience to a young and promising secondary.

He was not "awful" last year as some here keep saying.

Yep, I would love to see him back it up but experience says he wil do otherwise.

I honestly don't think these guys understand exactly what it would take to outproduce Welker.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but what exactly had Welker done prior to joining the Patriots to suggest he'd put up the numbers he did? Something like 90 receptions for circa 1,000 yards over 4 years? I'm willing to show a bit of faith in the organization and it's talent evaluators.

Here's Mike Leach comparing the two. It alleviated some of my concerns.

My opinion is that Welker is the best receiver the Patriots have ever had. Ever. That includes Troy Brown and Stanley Morgan. Loved them both, but Welker was just there, all the time.

Irreplaceable on so many levels.

But...life goes on.
