Bucs CB Eric Wright on trading block?

He's not really on any list, because while some NFL franchises are dumb, I highly doubt there are any dumb enough to trade for this guy.

I don't. Someone will take a chance. He's a decent Cb and can probably be had for cheap..low end draft pcik

He's not that good, is one strike from a suspension, and is severely overpaid.

Talib is 1 strike away as well. No team would pay his contract..he would have to re negotiate to lower terms

Has 14 INT's since 2007. Nothing great but like i said..can be had for a very low round pick and if he re structures deal..someone will take a chance

He's a good enough CB to start on almost any team. Unfortunately, he signed a contract last year when CBs were being paid outrageously.

EDIT to add more value: I think very highly of Eric Wright. When he went to Detroit he showed that he can be a top tier CB all on his own without playing next to someone great like Joe Haden. If you compare Detroit's pass defense from 2011 to last year there was a very significant drop off. Also, he's also not afraid to help out against the run game, which is an admirable trait among CBs in this day and age.

He's played under Belichick guys his whole career

2007 & 08- Crennel
2009 & 10- Mangini
2011- Schwartz
2012- Schiano

I know Schiano isn't a Belichick guy per se but supposedly Belichick and Schiano are so close that his recommendation got him the Tampa job.

If BB could get Wright to restructure i'd bet Schiano would give him Wright for something like one of the 7th round picks and the 2014 5th round pick.

He might be worth that...

I would take a shot on him if he restructures and they want say only a 7th or so for him. It's worth it.

We still need some CB Depth although right now the focus should be at the WR position but there is no one out there

This sounds eerily like the last cb that came from the Browns/Lions camp. Even if for a year or two. Can anyone guess? He also might be a good fit here also.

Mr. Leigh Bodden. Would love to bring in Wright for some depth can never have enough good corners.

The problem with right is not the low compensation he'd demand in trade, but the $7.5MM that would immediately hit your cap....and even while it isn't guaranteed, you'd have to carry that number on your books until you could determine that he might be worth it. Not happening.

On the other hand, if he were ever released, THEN I'd be real interested in him

Indeed.

As for Wright as a player, he's a mid tier #2 corner at best, being paid like a #1 corner. From what I've seen of him, he has the talent to be a luxury #2 guy, but he doesn't "put it together" on the field. He's not exactly that young either - you have to wonder if this is due to focus issues, lack of effort, bad luck with injuries, or if he is what he is now.
