Well, the Globe just lost one of its two employees (the other is SMY) who knows the football isn't stuffed with feathers.

I nominate Patsfanken for the job opening.

We can all then to Howe for news and analysis :bricks:
Or TomCurran fluff :bricks:

Congrats to Greg. He was a luxury to the Globe and to those who followed him. He will be missed.

Happy for him but this is a brutal shot to Patriots' coverage.

As I'm the first one up in the morning, nothing beats a cup of coffee and reading the "On Football" section in the globe sports Sunday Morning. A perfect blend of diligent writing, Good analysis, based on exustive film study and frankly, not afraid to give his own opinion.
I guess the online SI must be doing well. Have you seen or held the print version? It's probably 30 pages.

d%#*!@t. First Welker now Bedard.

I hope the Globe replaces him with a sensible adult. They seem unduly fond of whiny adolescents like Gasper and Mazzerrotti and their idol, Shaughnessey.

He's been a joy to read.. I'll look forward to his article in SI..

Globe is up for sale again. Readership continues to plummet. Needs to feed his family. Greg will be sorely missed.

Probably twice the pay for half the work.

Anyone know if he's replacing anyone at SI? I saw somewhere the last few days Kind was getting his own site (still part of SI), but haven't read the details.

Wonder if he'll keep writing some patriots material at SI

Another mercenary, remember the days when the writers were home grown fanatics that turned into sports scribes???

Good luck Greg. Thanks for the enjoying reads. Enjoy long and way too detailed coffee discussions with Peter King.

Does that mean Mazz gets to write more Patriots columns? Yikes!

I think Mazz has officially retired from writing too.

I will miss him

Mazz has officially retired from thinking. Actually, he retired from that the moment he became Felger's parrot.

...I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone...

Good luck to Greg. Although I didn't always agree with his opinions, he backed them up with solid reasoning. Didn't fall prey to the sports talk radio mentality of being overly critical to prove he was unbiased or edgy, while at same time could be very critical when it was warranted. That's a major and very important difference between him and certain other Boston area writers.
