Spotrac is the site I go by. It always seems to be accurate from what I have seen. Not only for the Pats but for other teams too. So I think it's pretty legit.

Also, I have raised this question a few times, nobody seems to know the answer. Brian Waters is still listed on there at $2.25 mill. Is that some extra money to spend? I would assume so.

Guys were saving 12 million for draft picks and emergency money
Reporters are struggling at this time of year. I bet BB loves it.

Well if you look Spotrac doesn't have Arrington or Koutouvides figured. so i'd figure at-least another $3.5 is gone. So this $15.5 is probably wrong.

We have 2 resident capologists (at least). We don't need more. Miguel has done this for us for years and is well-recognized as our cap guru. Jason has also held that role.

Please stop presented other opinions. For exxample, the one you gave did not have any money for Arrington.

New England Patriots - 2013 Cap Hits

Previously reported that we only had $11M left. idk which one is right, but the roster list is updated

I have noticed this pattern. If OvertheCap changes their figures one week, SpoTrac will change theirs to match later, even OvertheCap's mistakes. For example, both OvertheCap and Spotrac list Brian Waters, who is listed on the Patriots Reserve/Retire list

See - there's no way we could have afforded to resign Welker.

Thanks to the OP for trying to help us all stay informed, but..."In Miguel I trust."

Not to put too fine a point on it, but really, Miguel is the man. We are very lucky to have him around.

Don't forget about the important impending restructured contracts they want to write up this year. You know, because Spikes and McCourty have been lighting it up so much that they're under paid even thought they were high draft picks.

I agree that Miguel is fantastic. But is his page with Patriots cap numbers back up? I can't find it on the site anywhere. Anyone have a link so we don't need to rely on mediocre sites like Spotrac?

Fells is not worth a 1.25 million base salary. That sounds like a guy who should be cut, and I would think they could designate him for June 1st release. That'd save about 900K.

Also, I'm guessing the biggest mistake all these mediots seem to make is forgetting the top 51 rule in their "guesstimates". Every guy we add is bumping out someone worth around 500K to the cap. Correct me if I'm wrong, Miguel and others, but when we make a signing like Svitek (840K cap hit), it's only a net add of 360K for the cap since someone at the bottom is pushed out the list.

Bingo!!!!We have a winner.

Spotrac has the Pats at $109.5 mill as of today, They still list Brian Waters at $2.25 mill so does that mean they are really at $107.25 mill as of today? What does the numbers on the forum member page here show as of today? I don't see a total amount anywhere on there and I'm not going to take the time to add it all up.

According to my figures the Patriots' 2013 cap figure is for $108,438,268 with 64 (63 active, 0 on Injured Reserve, 1 on Reserve/Non-NFI) players. I now believe that reserve players like Brian Waters do not count against the cap. I have the Patriots' 2013 dead money at $6,644,196. $108,798,268 + $6,644,196 = $115,083,089. The cap limit for the 2013 season is $123 million. The Patriots' adjusted cap number is $129,656,344. Therefore, I have the Patriots under their adjusted cap limit by about $14.6 million. On the 19th of March Greg Bedard tweeted that the Patriots are under their adjusted cap by $15,271,750 so my numbers are off by $698,495. I am working to reconcile that difference. My numbers do NOT include the cap effects of the Nick Koutuvides signing.

My totals are at the top.
