Reiss' Patriots Mailbag

Very interesting mailbag. But if the Pats are done with big FA signings, the (EDIT) $11M+ cap $$$ remaining would then be targeted towards maybe Vollmer and towards contract extensions.

This team didn't improve themselves one bit. All they did was replace Welker with Amendola.

weird, sense they have to spend to the cap.

Well, first of all, a healthy Pats team in the playoffs last year might well have gone all the way. It's a part of the game, but playing a team like Baltimore without Gronk really makes it tough, and losing Talib and not having Jones...ouch.

So just getting through FA somewhat intact (including the Talib re-signing) is a good thing. I think A Wilson helps most than you credit, and I still think Abraham is coming here, and another receiver. And having Ballard back might surprise a lot of Pats fans - the guy can play.

Baltimore has fallen apart and the book is out on Denver - sure they added Welker, but losing Dumervil will hurt a defense that I never thought was all that good anyway (and Manning is starting to wear thin, I think).

As for the NFC, only one team comes out. I'm not sure how much either SF or Seattle will be "better," since both of their QB's are heading into the sophomore season, which is rarely a good thing. Also, both of those teams, particularly SF, had remarkable luck on the injury front last year.

Re-signing Talib and signing Adrian Wilson improves the team.

Theat is the question. IMHO, the patriots made zero big signings so far outside of Talib. I would not consider any of Abraham, Freeney, Lloyd, Edelman, a backup guard or a backup corner to be a "big" signing.

If Reiss is suggesting something, he is suggesting that we are done with Dumervil and Vollmer.

Reiss things they are done with big signings. Would abraham be a "big signing"?

So based upon what's haapened so far in Free Agency, let me read between the tea leaves.

Since Reiss says the big free agents deals are done, that mean the Pats FO (or a least a Pats source) told him that. And they probably fed him inaccurate information in the hopes that it catches the competition off guard.

Meanwhile on the Sports Hub, Felger is calling out Reiss again for being a good little foot soldier.

Pay closer attention please.

Please don't lecture me. Hind your own advice. I left the names of talib, wilson out for a reason. Yes they are upgrades but not pieces that are going to bring us a superbowl. That should be our goal. Brady left money on the table so we can spend it on AMD, Wilson and talib. Not

dont pay any attention to eeasya he basically ruined an entire red sox board by himself everything he says is wrong

I think I blocked you on the Red sox forum and I will block you here. Consider this your only warning. You are an annoying and a negative poster. All you do is belittle anyone who disagrees with you. If you have nothing good too say, just keep it too yourself.
