Presuming a Lloyd signing this weekend, do folks think that we should be in the bidding for Edelman's services?

Clearly, if Lloyd is not here, it would be nice to have one WR who has caught a pass from Brady in the past.

Is he worth keeping as a PR and emergency WR?

If lloyd stays...he can go. Washington is the new KR and probably PR on this team

Lloyd
Amendola
Jones

possibly Sanders

Is it bad of me to rather have Edelman than Lloyd? I mean seriously, do we believe Edelman can't run 6 yards, catch a ball and fall down? Can you see Lloyd returning kicks or punts or playing cornerback? I think Edelman is worth much more to a team that greatly values versatility as the Pats do than a guy like Lloyd.

To be fair though I also assume Edelman would be cheaper, but even at even money I think I'd still prefer him over Lloyd.

Edelman can do so many things and is a great PR. it would be foolish to not resign him.

He can run the 6 yards in the 10 out of 16 games he will play in when lloyd can play in all 16 games and get 900 yards.

Do people forget he was 80 something away from 1,000 yards? Edelman will never produce close to that. He wouldn't be healthy long enough to have a chance...

I think it depends on Lloyd and Sanders. If Lloyd takes a pay cut and Sanders signs, there's really not any WR snaps left to give him unless he's playing for peanuts and doesn't need to be a contributor outside STs.

I want Edelman back. But logically it is looking less and less so...

But what the hell is going on with this Sanders offer sheet? There are so many conflicting reports(And the Steelers have 7 days to match). I think Edleman back would hinge on a Sanders signing..

Actually, I have no idea...

..Beli is so waste deep in the bargain bin right now, I have no idea what he is going to come up with....

Sanders either already has or is soon expected to sign an offer sheet. There have been varying levels of reports about whether he's actually signed it or not, but Sciz from PatsFans is reporting that it's inevitable either way, so the "when" isn't a big issue. At some point, I'm sure that five days will start. It was seven days under the old CBA.

Yeah, it's hard to see him returning if they get Sanders and keep Lloyd. But I could see Sanders, Amendola, Edelman, [big tall receiver], [backup receiver], and Slater.

Let's not forget Jones.

I think that the choice is between Lloyd or Edelman. My choice would be Lloyd, but we'll see.
It would be good to have ONE returning WR on the 53.

It depends on what kind of contract Jones got. It wouldn't surprise me if the SB on that is <$500K.

Looks like Sanders signed his offer sheet..

No. 3 receiver Emmanuel Sanders has signed an offer sheet with the New England Patriots that will force the Steelers to match the offer or let him go, too.

Steelers WR Sanders could be headed to New England - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Back to your post.

Hmm, Back up receiver would be Jones, Big Tall receiver would come from the draft. Edelman might make it...

Either way, I am comfortable with the O. Just need Beli to shore up the D now..

If we get Sanders, Edelman would be the #4 or #5 receiver which is fine. I personally like him more than Jones as our #4 atm due to knowledge of system. He is an excellent backup, versatile on all sides of the ball and an excellent PR. He has returned a punt 70 or more yards and for a TD each of the last three seasons. He shouldn't be that expensive to resign too.

1. Lloyd
2. Amendola
3. Sanders
4. Jones/Edelman
5. Slater

The only upgrade I can still see is either cutting Lloyd followed by trading for or drafting a WR with outside size that stretches the field. Either way I think Edelman should be brought back as a backup where he gives us good value.

Since listing Slater as a receiver is a joke, why are we limited to carrying only four receivers? Edelman is a significantly better punt returner than Leon too.

Since free agency and the draft aren't even played out, why do we want to cut guys now when there are plenty of spots in camp and these things always decide themselves due to injuries or new players not living up to expectations.

If it wasn't for the injury issue, IMHO keeping JE would be a no brainer. He gives excellent PR and STs play plus adds a very viable WR backup component. His versatility is exactly the kind of stuff that BB covets. Unfortunately the injury issue is real. I have my doubts that he is a 16 games a year player. Further, in agreement with others, I have my doubts that JE is even part of the Patriots' conversation anymore. Too bad as the JE of 2012, when he was healthy, was a very real asset.

Huh? when we saw Edelman last he was developing into a nice WR he was also taking snaps from Lloyd.:snob:

Ahem. O-line. Vollmer is not yet signed and Thomas is gone.

If the Patriots roster has him down as a WR, he goes in the list of WR's.

I also don't have them carrying 4 WR's, I have them carrying 6. Slater is #6 and Donald Jones and Edelman being interchangeable in the 4 & 5 spot.

If you haven't heard by now, Lloyd is scheduled to get a $3 million bonus tomorrow. If he doesn't restructure his contract, he will more than likely be cut to save money.
