And the defense?

EXACTLY!!!!!

it's simple really, unless we get better on defense, we are not gonna be lifting up that Lombardi any time soon.

Let's get back to our roots, of our our championship years.

We need the horses, we NEED the horses!!!!!!!!!!!!

The team has made one signing on Offense and one signing (I assume) on Special Teams. Why the rush?

Uh, because the FA pool goes down considerably the longer you wait.

I think the D is next. Maybe 1 wr as a deep threat and then the D.

Anyone ever think that they may be saving some of the $$ for next years class?

It's day 3 of free agency. We truly live in the era of instant gratification, I guess.

The Patriots are not typically active immediately in FA. Give it a few days. We'll see something... hopefully.

Hell of a way to waste a year of having one of the best qbs of all time.

I expect them to move to the secondary next, Talib and maybe a vet Safety.

That's really what it comes down to and what we need to remember; however, the plethora of low market salaries in this free agency period has made watching tons of talented players that much harder to witness.

We likely all have a few players that we would've loved to see that have gotten very reasonably low deals so far. Michael Bennett for 1 yr/5 million would have been a nice one in my opinion, along with some of the other smaller deals for the secondary/DL.

It's kind of like the Welker deal yesterday...it's understandable to see him leave, but the compensation made it that much harder to stomach. I feel like we could've had some decent upgrades in a year where we have seen tons of below average market deals.

Last year, most of their signings were made in the first few days.

At wide receiver, the Pats currently have LLoyd (who may be cut),
Amendola, and Slater plus 3 practice squaders.

At cornerback, Dennard (who may go to jail), Dowling, and
Williams (a special teamer).

In the meantime, the talent pool for WR and CB becomes weaker
each day.

The least they could do is re-sign Edleman and Arrington.

We are rarely active in the first week of free agency. There are other teams like the packers that have a similar strategy.

However, I too would like us to re-sign some of our own.

Waiting.....

Be patient about FA signings. Chew on the Welker/Amendola stuff in the meantime.

Also, this is quite possible going to be a year with a lot of post-draft cuts, so I won't be surprised if the Patriots keep a decent amount of money available for that.

To the people who wish to be patient...

The whole point in being patient (in previous years) is so that you can snag mid-tier FAs at a low price once openings dry up due to earlier, bigger, signings. Now, I'd agree...if the top FA's were getting the whopping contracts of yesteryear. But this year? Wow, they are getting nothing. The biggest players are getting contracts that are just pathetic.

So, the logic of year's past really doesn't apply to this year. I can understand waiting until the market sets the going rate. But we're there now. It's time to take advantage...

Oh, and at roughly 20 mil under the cap, the Pats can really make some big moves at low prices.

Sign Adrian Wilson!

Could've had 2 of Talib, Cox, Lewis, Smith for 12 million yet have done nothing and now are in jeopardy of having no corners if Talib is lost. Lol at it's only day 3 BE PATIENT!! The good players are going and not at exorbitant rates, there's steals to be had day 2 and on this year.

Defense isn't so much a concern now that we have Leon "The answer, The solution, and the Savior all rolled into one" Washington. Everytime we give up a score we're scoring 7 points on the kickoff anyways, so it puts defense lower on the list of needs.
