Philadelphia announces it has parted ways with the star cornerback after two seasons with the team.

Very Interesting.

Unfortunately for anyone who signs him, he went from star, to crap, in warped speed. For 1 million I'd take a chance.

Would take him over Talib. He's worth way more than $1M. You don't go from stud to bum that quick.

Vet minimum. Thats it. 1 yr prove it deal. Tired of the haynesworth ochocincos out there.

Hope the Pats make him an offer

damn...the dream team is disassembling!

Played Man Coverage in Oakland... Tried to convert him to ZONE in Philly.. He doesn't play Zone..

So...wouldn't this belong in the "Interesting Cuts" omnibus?

He's got 4 million guaranteed. I wonder how much, if any, of that is subject to offset. I should have checked that a few days ago.

He's like the bizarro-McCourty. The Pats are looking for a man-corner so maybe he's a fit.

The $4M belongs to Philly, presumably over two years.

$4 million of Asomugha’s $15 million base salary for the coming season became fully guaranteed, with no offset.

The absence of the offset means that, even if the Eagles cut Asomugha, he’ll still get $4 million from Philly in 2013.

Ok, so he's got 4 coming already. Maybe that will make him more comfortable going for a ring as opposed to top dollar. Probably not, but it's worth a hope...

1 year 5 million. Do it!
He succeeds = we get an amazing deal for the year.
He plays like he did in philly = 5 million is fine for a free agent #2 corner (ie bodden)

i want him will be cheap

i hope the pats sign him they were still the number 9 pass defense last year with him and lets not forget thet with oakland he was the only CB teams did not need to throw at him with philly they had 3 number one CB's at one time and like others said he's a man coverage CB

Who gives a damn for Christ's sake? I'm so sick of clicking on every thread on here and seeing every other message be about where the post belongs. Who wants to click through a 30 page thread to see the latest news? I say this as someone who rarely posts but likes to read the front page to get the latest Patriot/NFL news, as evidenced by the fact that it's probably been months since I made a post on here.

I love when people try to act like they know what they're talking about by regurgitating garbage they heard elsewhere on the internet. The numbers show very clearly that he played at the same level he did in Oakland. The difference is no one ever watched Oakland and expected them to lose. A lot of people watched the Eagles and expected them to win.

The problem is that he was a corner being paid elite DL money. That is why they cut him.

And beyond that, even if he was as horrible as people suggested, he has a long history of playing at an elite level before going to the train wreck that is Philadelphia. Some team is going to take a gamble on him.

These idiotic "1 year 1 million dollars" deals are completely moronic and unrealistic. I'd be very surprised if he gets any less than 3 years and 18 million.
