I think the next week is going to be CRAZY in the NFL. It's started already with the trades today, the Giants signing Jenkins, etc. There are going to be some huge names out there and the rumors of them going every which way will be rampant in this modern twitter universe. And yes, the Patriots will be mentioned with a TON of these players.

We are going to be in for a wild ride here, so strap yourselves in.

Note: I am not sure the Patriots actually make many moves this first week, mind you, but they will be mentioned an awful lot, thus making this an emotionally hectic week for us fans.

Yeah, this is already the craziest free agency I can remember. This flat cap is a pretty nice touch.

Are you sure?? Remember 2 years ago when the lockout ended?? That was INSANE.

That was the best offseason week ever -- unfortunately it resulted in us getting 2 huge disappointments

I was pretty nervous about this offseason and than Brady's deal made me for a few days feel like this would be the most amazing offseason ever but that tempered as a few days passed. But now as we get closer to FAency I am starting to feel it again mostly because of the sheer number of DBs on the market.

If we resign Wes based on the number of DBs out there I dont see how we wont be happy when the week shakes out. If We dont resign Wes I think we will likely come out of the week feeling like everything except WR is taken care of and taken care of very well as there would be an additional 8 mil or so to use (less whatever Wes FA replacement might be) and we will all be looking to the draft for a WR.

it will be a fun ride.Don't expect the pats to spend big $$ on 1 guy..but get a bunch of vets in here. No lloyd cut yet...

Agree ... Brady did not restructure to bring over paid players to the team.

No and they won't get players like cruz, jennings ect. but plenty of DBs out there and a few will be here next year

They will need to address both needs somehow. Possibly through the draft. But, I agree, no big $ contracts. Cutting Lloyd would make little sense as he was only here for a year, and a reasonable cap deal. He almost had 1,000 yards for the 4th option. Nothing to laugh at.

I hope they keep him ... I found it encouraging how he started going over the middle a bit in the playoffs. If he can expand upon that next year he is well worth the money. A good receiver who needs to change his game a bit IMO and it looks like he's doing that. we can send Vareen out wide and long to stretch the field when needed ... he's good at it.

The deadline for paying him his bonus is after the start of free agency.

Technically, I don't think they even have to cut him. He becomes a free agent if they don't pay his option bonus. Therefore, the have to take the action of paying him the bonus to keep him, and doing nothing makes him a free agent.

Isn't it something like four days into the new league year? I.E. We'll know this week.

I think it's by the fifth day, which would be the 16th. Technically nothing is set in stone until that passes, but I'm sure we'll get a good report before then.

hoping we can get keenan lewis and desmond bryant 2 young solid players that i think could become pro bowl caliber players

typically the bonus is if he is on the roster at a certain point he gets the money, so he would need to be cut.

I believe that Lloyd does NOT have a roster bonus; rather, the patriots have an option on his services, which can be executed by paying Lloyd $3M four days after free agency begins.

But, this is simply semantics. The patriots have about a week to finalize and announce their decision.

I could see us making a play for Michael Bennett as well.. it's going to be very interesting to see what happens by this time tomorrow.

I promise Sciz.. no IncarceratedBob Links from me either.. unless he hit's on one! :rocker:
