What about signing former Panthers CB Chris Gamble?

Re: What about signing Chris Gamble?

4. Chris Gamble, Carolina Panthers

2012 Cap Hit: $9.8m
2012 Performance Based Value: $830k
Value Differential: -$8.9m

Yet another injury casualty on this list, Gamble went down with a shoulder injury after playing virtually every snap in the team’s first four games. An unfortunate outcome for the LCB, who was allowing just 0.45 Yards per Cover Snap which would’ve led the league by a wide margin. Even with his play in those 282 snaps and his solid 2011 campaign, Gamble now finds himself on the free agent market with the Panthers facing another big cap hit as he closes in on 30 years of age.

In accordance to this link, Gamble ranked fourth in lowest completion percentage and third in quarterback rating throwing in their direction based on 2011 statistics. I know, everything isn't always about a player's statistics. Nonetheless, I don't think a veteran like Gamble hurts you.

What about Greg Toler.. Young, inexpensive and on an upswing

ESPN's Scouts Inc doesn't seem to hold him in very high regard:

NFL Free-Agent Tracker - ESPN

those are the worst ratings I have ever seen, Quinton Jammer is a bum, how he rates as top rated is unbelievable

Yeah, I'm not going to rely too heavily on the opinions of a site that considers Jammer and Antoine Cason to be the number one cornerbacks in this year's free agent class.

Well that puts a damper on things.. might be short lived though.. he had an amazing 2011 season and then hurt his shoulder last year.

"Whoa. RT @JosinaAnderson: Agent Carl Poston just told me that Chris Gamble informed him last night that he wants to retire."

Chris gamble to retire per agent... Haha

he retired according to the sports hub.

Eye-opening news that, as @JosinaAnderson reports, Chris Gamble will retire. Remember him as Mr. Everything on championship 2002 Buckeyes.

Ah, well, there's plenty of other options out there.

He's the perfect FA for the Pats to sign and then re-retire in training camp

Looks like the gamble option has crapped out....

We all knew it'd be a gamble to get our hopes up for him ...I just figured we'd find out after the season, not before.

Re: The Gamble Stopped...

Again? I thought he retired 8 hours ago
