Pats reportedly interested in WR/KR Josh Cribbs

Bedard brought him up a while ago as a possible offensive contributor. He's got the skillset (not big or fast, but YAC ability) that the Pats tend to maximize. Also, I think it's worth pointing out that the Browns purposely limited him on offense because they had him doing everything on STs, both returning and covering.

I would see a potential improvement to the ST and even as a replacement to Edelman, if it comes down to him leaving.

I'm glad that Belichick is viewing all options and possibilities.

Could he replace Matthew Slater in that role?

he would give the pats the KR they need and the deep threat this bord wants, but i think some crazy team will over pay for him

I like Cribbs a lot, only marginally as a WR but he's one of the better dual threat KR/PR out there. He would give us one of the more solid returners and keep guys like McCourty from risking injury. Cribbs would be part of the solution at both KR and PR.

i have no problem with Cribbs as our kick returner (and likely punt returner). This most likely would be instead of Edelman, but that doesn't need to be so.

Yep. Basically its our obligation to keep him.

Nope, its not an obligation but a its a good idea to have pro bowl special framers.

You act like BB has no clue what he is doing by taking a roster spot up for Slater.

When did I say that?? I was just using sarcasm against guys who say that, "oh, we are wasting space with keeping Slater." Maybe I should've made myself clearer.

I guess I shouldn't post in the middle of the night. I thought your sarcastic comment was the exact opposite of what you meant.

Could be a solid, cost-effective move to really bolster a major KR/PR need and to add some YAC to this WR group. I would have no issues bringing him in here. This guy has never had a QB and no question TB would get him the ball in space to allow him to make plays.

Josh Cribbs: 43 returns 1,178 yards 27.4 avg 0 TDs
Devin McCourty: 27 returns 654 yards 24.2 avg 1 TD

4th highest KR average in the league with no TD returns, he'd be a great upgrade over McCourty in that area and would get McCourty out of harms way on KRs.

Josh Cribbs: 38 returns 457 yards 12 avg 0 TDs
Julian Edelman: 17 returns 263 yards 15.5 avg 1 TD

Edelman is a better returner, but Cribbs has way more experience in this area. 12 avg still puts him at 6th in the league, Edelman didn't qualify without enough returns.

If he comes as the same price as Edelman, I say sign Cribbs. He's way more durable and improves our KR game. Cribbs has also done more as a WR than Edelman over the last four years.
