Would you give the Eagles a 7th round pick for CB Nnamdi Asomugha?

Never seen a player that was so great on one team (Oakland) and considered the best in the league at his position not even 5 years ago look so horrid on another (Philly) in just a few years time.

Was he just a bad fit in Philly or has injuries taken its toll on him?...he is 32 and he looked pretty bad last year.

The Eagles might very well keep Nhamdi and ask for a low round draft pick in exchange.....Would you offer a 7th rounder for him if they don't outright cut him?

I would. The reason for me is that i think the pats need some veteran leadership in their secondary to make sure everyone knows where they need to be at all times. That has seemed to be half the battle with this team's coverage woes. 1st it was McCourty's off year when he had no idea what the safteys were doing. Then Chung's regression, Rookie starters last year with promise.

I just think throwing in Asomugha would help this team and a 7th isn't a high price if his contract demands are reasonable.

I would as well,even if Asomugha has little left he could offer some mentor help to the younger guys and from what I have heard,he is a good locker room guy.

We need a smaller contract, so no. Trading for him means we have to overpay in salary unless he agreed to a new/revised deal like Moss deal in the trade that brought him to NE

But as a free agent I'd be all over him, like BO on a Jets fan.

I know he had suffered a neck injury last year in december and from what i have heard it had affected him a bit but he missed no time.

It all depends on what you consider "big money." Asomugah had a 15 million dollar cap hit this season, so PHI will be saving 11 million by cutting or trading him. They'll still be paying the 4 million dollars regardless, so I'm not sure why you are including that as a potential starting point for salary? The 4 million dollars doesn't have anything to do with anything, besides the fact that PHI could get something in return with a low round draft pick.

They'll either be paying him the 4 million dollar bonus if they cut him, or they'll be paying the 4 million dollar bonus if they trade him. Obviously the trading option is better because they'd get something in return for the 4 million.

Asomugah isn't going to see the double digit yearly aav that he was seeing in Oakland and Philly, but he'll probably still be seeing something in the 6-7 million dollar range with all of the other CBs like Chris Gamble, DRC, etc.

If that is considered "cheap" to you, then fine, but the 4 million dollar bonus from Philly has nothing to do with it. He's going to certainly be seeing more than 4 million dollars a year. Kyle Arrington may end up seeing around 4 million dollars a year from another team and he's only a nickel CB who was an UDFA. Asomugah still has quite a reputation based on his shutdown status of being the top CB in the game a few yrs ago.

I think if the money is right, you'd have to at least give him a thought.

I think that either one of DRC or Asomugah could be candidates, but it would have to be a cautious kind of pact. There's a very good chance that some team is going to overpay for both of them.

I don't see either one deserving of more than about 6 million a year, but that's just me. The market will almost surely dictate nothing less than 5 million, especially when mediocre nickel back CBs are getting 3.5--4 million a year.

Yes if he restructured his contract. No if he wouldn't.

He is only 31 so I'd assume he has 2-3 years left in him. Not a guy who has taken a ton of abuse over the years.

Keep in mind that no one's going to take on his old contract. They'll have to re-do a new one at a much friendlier deal or they couldn't find a trading partner.

He'll probably just be cut anyway, and the same thing will happen. He'll have to agree to a reasonable deal or no one will want him.

From this article, it sounds like he doesn't want to change it for Philly because there's no offset language in his guarantee so it's in his best interest to get cut.

He'll get $4M from Philly no matter what, plus whatever another team gives him if he doesn't tweak the contract and just waits.
