can't stay healthy..save the $$

Yup. Great player when healthy, which is sadly only about three times a season.

Welker and Edelman say hello !

Not really needed if Welker does indeed re-sign as anticipated.

Danny Amendola likely to test free agency - SBNation.com

I do not see him as a replacement for Welker but I'd be interested to see how much more he commands on the open market than Edelman.. Because if its not significant I'd spend the extra $$

You've got to be kidding DA $ >> JE $, and his play reflects it.

That said, neither can stay on the field. I'd like to see Edes re-sign here, inexpensively.

if ammendola was a #1 then yes go after him...but he isn't. pass

Not interested. It looks certain that Welker will be back and I'm not sure Amendola does any thing that Edelman can't for the price, provided he's re-signed as well.

I don't know why Amendola gets such a bad rap for being injury plagued. He isn't staying out of the lineup because he doesn't like playing through minor bumps and bruises. Instead, he's suffered a few unfortunate, freak injuries that have sidelined him the past two years. In 2011, he suffered a freak dislocated elbow from landing awkwardly. In 2012, Amendola suffered a freak dislocated clavicle from landing awkwardly that almost killed him because of the way it popped inwards. Additionally, neither of these are recurring problems and none have happened body parts that should impact his performance long-term (knees, ankles, back).

These are his games played (from NFL.com) over the past four seasons:

2012 - 11
2011 - 1
2010 - 16
2009 - 14

Aside from those two freak injuries, Amendola has been pretty reliable in terms of being available to play (whether from staying healthy or playing through pain).

What makes it look certain? Brady restructuring his contract because that was likely either way.

What makes you so certain WW will be back? The team wanted to sign him to a 2yr $16m deal last year and he declined and they don't seem interested in slapping the franchise tag on him this year.

If they feel they need to, they will. But both sides are talking.

Perhaps I missed something but I thought that the general feeling for the past week or so is that they'll get a deal done before free agency, especially in light of reports from Bedard and some of the NFLN guys. Perhaps "certain" wasn't the best word but I don't think I'm saying any thing that other people aren't. I've seen others around here post similar sentiments.

Either way, not the thread to get into it.

Sign him. The guy is a Welker clone (or will be with Brady throwing to him). The tie vs. SF was a tour-de-force performance by him. If you have access to that game, watch it and wear a bib to catch your drool. He caught everything in sight that game, took abuse going over the middle yet didn't let it phase him, and even beat his CB deep*.

Regards,
Chris

* Rams should have won that game in OT as DA got behind the CB for a 80yd catch, only to have it called back on an illegal motion call that *just* barely happened.

Welker doesn't get hurt besides that fluke ACl...DA sneezes and he is out 3 weeks...That's NOT a welker clone....at all

BKBroiler addressed this well, IMO. I don't think your perception matches reality.

I'm sure there are some who don't pay attention closely and would say something similar about Gronk..."Injury prone...DO NOT WANT!"

Regards,
Chris

The question is how much more? Between the draft and UFA there is a lot of WR's on the market I do not believe DA will command the type of money you believe and if 1-2 million separate him and Edelman I'm taking DA all day. I could be wrong but that will be determined soon enough.

In 4 seasons, (maximum of 64 games), he's played 42 games and missed 22 games.

In other words, he's missed more than 1/3 of his games.

That's why he, legitimately, gets the rap for being injury prone.
