Sorry for the joke, but the joke is really on the Jets and their fans if the report is true.

Welcome to the Board, dude. Nothing like harvesting the Jets boards for great quotes to get into the swing of things around here.

The Jets are such a mess. They shop their best player from a non-playoff team at the Combine with no takers, cut five of their top 12 salary guys and bring in a guy like Brady Quinn to compete with Mark Sanchez, so that ostensibly Sanchez can win back his starting job while Rex blusters about the intense competition in training camp.

Meanwhile, their chief rival frees up $8 million in cap space and goes shopping for players better than the ones that took them to the AFC Championship game two years in a row.

The Jets taking Geno Smith or Matt Barkeley with their 1st, or trading Revis for Carson Palmer would have been better from a Patriot standpoint. They have so many positions to fill and no money, that they will suck in 2013 no matter what. Quinn does the least amount of damage from a draft pick/cap POV.

If this Idzik guy is going to make rational decisions, he needs to go.

Honestly, it's getting to the point where I just feel bad for them. What was a red hot rivalry for a while has turned into a complete joke these last 2 years, and it won't be getting better anytime soon.

I'd get nervous that Woody Johnson will hire someone competent after he fires Rex at the end of the upcoming season...then I remember it's the Jets and he'll just hire the next carnival barker he can find. Maybe he'll pick up Rob Ryan at the coach.
