Alex Smith traded by 49ers to KC

Alex Smith has no arm or accuracy. They aren't much better off than with Cassell. They got hosed.
Cassel probably has a better arm, but saying Smith has no accuracy could not be more untrue. He completed 71% of his passes before getting benched.

Those of you who don't mind the salty language might want to pop on over to Chiefsplanet....

Their displeasure is on full display.

Do you blame them if this is true.

Blame/don't blame is irrelevant to me. I view this as karma happening to a fan base that didn't give the previous regime a fair shake. They never forgave Pioli for not drafting Sanchez, and they never forgave Cassel for being traded for. They actually paid for banners and pressured the team to fire the last regime.

The result: The next regime steps right in and trades for Alex Smith. Yes, indeed, Karma just took a big bite out of the collective ass of the Chiefs fanbase.

In all fairness to the fans, the last regime sucks (whatever the reasons maybe), but they sucked.

The last regime did a pretty good job in many areas, but it had a disastrous season last year. It was the kind of season that gets a lot of regimes removed. The issue isn't with that happening. The issue is with what happened almost from day one.

Imagine being such a sick and twisted fan base that you can't forgive your team for not drafting Mark Sanchez.....

wow thats awful
Smith is really nota that good

Presuming a contract extension for Smith, this is a good deal for both teams. Filling a major need with a 2nd rounder is a huge gain for KC.

You're assuming Smith actually fills said need. Which is questionable, at best.

That stat is very misleading. He can't reliably complete a downfield or outside throw. Unless he only sucked in the games of his I watched over his eight year career.

I'm telling you, San Francisco is turning into an absolute monster organization. They are already loaded, have one of the best young QB in the game, are led by one of the best coaches in the business, just cleared a bunch of cap space, and have like 5 of the first 90 picks in the draft.

I think football is better when the Niners are good, but holy moly, they're suddenly unbelievable. Glad they're in the other conference.

Could be. But remember that he's been in a constant state of new coaches and coordinators. Reid/Pederson will be his... what... 7th?

I am a proponent of bringing back Matt Cassel if he can't find a starter job elsewhere. It gives us the flexibility to trade Mallet, should a market for him ever develop and he's a known commodity in our system.

Not surprised at all. SF got one hell of a deal for a so-so QB.

Guess what, people. The 49ers now have 11... that's ELEVEN... count 'em.... one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight (oh, let's give it a Jamaican twinge...) Eee-ate, nine, ten, eleven.

That's eleven picks in the 2013 NFL Draft.

That's sick. And now there's Revis to the 49ers rumblings in New York.

This team came out of nowhere. It seems only yesterday Mike Singletary was coaching them into oblivion.
I'm glad they're in the NFC. They're gonna be everybody's darlings come September. Let's hope they pull an Eagle style collapse but right now they look wayyy formidable.
d%#*!@t.

Actually, it's sicker. The total is 15 (assuming this trade goes through). And I read elsewhere they had five in the top 93 or so. Crazy.

Hey, maybe we'll have two 18-0 teams meet in the Super Bowl next year.

They are definitely going to be moving around. I think they'll grab some 2014 picks and maybe move up this year to fill needs. This is going to be a scary team going forward.

As I said in the other thread, about a quarter of the league had as many or more wins than the Niners last year, let's see Kapernick play a few more games before we crown them.

2nd round pick this year plus a future pick, in 2014 that's gonna be a 3rd rounder minimum and can go as high as 2nd rounder. Yeah, what a 'steal'. Alex Smith is overrated. Considering what he just got in return for SF, a place where he was completely unwanted because of Kaepernick, we should be happy to give Mallet away for a 4th rounder or whatever.

Are you really trying to equate/compare Smith's current value to Mallett's? One player led his team to a blown short of the Super Bowl last year, and was among the league leaders in multiple categories this year, prior to getting injured. The other might have led his team in a stretching exercise.
