So what are the savings for the Pats?

if true, what a huge disappointment. thought he would have been a bigger playmaker.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. They are already insanely thin at wr eve with Lloyd AND having welker and I'm not comfortable going into next season relying on rookie wide receivers.

I hope they have a plan to grab one of these big time wideouts.

You have to assume that Jennings or Wallace is on the Pats radar, although I think other teams are more than likely to outbid for thier services.

I see Edelman,Slater and Welker (since Brady freed up cap room) returning as WRs .........the rest of the WR roster will be between going for one of those 2 I mentioned above or multiple rookies vying for a spot.

They must be targeting a WR that they expect to be available in FA

Will they really bring back Edelman? The guy who has missed significant time every season?

Now did they actually say they are going to cut him or did they just repeat Bedard's story from yesterday that the odds are good that they are going to cut him? I checked all the usual subjects' Twitter feeds (Bedard, SMY, Jeff Howe, Mike Reiss, etc.) and no one has Tweeted that Lloyd is cut.

No offense, but I think you are reporting old news which is more informed speculation on Greg Bedard's part than actual facts.

He has a 3 million bonus due, so that decision will need to be made. CBS picks up on Bedard's charge of "erratic behavior", but here's the source and explanation.

I think they have until next week. I agree they will have to make the decision soon, but I am just saying that I don't think the decision has been made yet. Even Bedard said there is internal discussions on whether they think they can manage Lloyd's personality going forward or not.

We probably won't know the actual decision until Lloyd is released or he is still on the team after the first day of the football year though.

the pats should make sure they have welker's signature before they jettison lloyd if signing welker is their intent.

With Demps' status up in the air, yes, you bring back your franchise's all-time best PR. He's also a football player who's willing to do whatever is necessary to help the team win. On any sort of reasonable deal, that's a guy that you keep around.

Percy please.

Shouldn't speculate too much until things become clearer, but if the Pats are getting rid of a thousand receiving yards because Lloyd was grumpy sometimes that's pretty asinine.

If this is true, I'm giddy with delight. I've been pounding the table that Lloyd's skillset set is best suited as a 3rd down #3WR. A three down WR must be able to make plays with the ball in his possession...not fall down. A possession wide out with no deep ball threat that is incapable of creating YAC does not deserve a starting role on a team with championship aspirations.
Look at how Baltimore played NE. Bringing a safety in closer to the LOS, they were able to blow up the Pats short passing game (53% completion rate). Having a Lloyd type brings no extra attention.

Demps probably would not have returned punts, lots of shifty WR/returner guys in the draft, and how much would Edelman cost?

The guy misses so much time, it is like he isn't even on the team.

Ugh they better be spending then. Do not want 06 all over again.

Who is this mythical receiver that will do all these things?

Wait. Do you think BB just started this football thing last night?

Disappointing how it turned out. He was productive, and close to being the answer; but if he was a malcontent in the locker room, then he isn't worth it.

A legitimate WR on the outside was a need with or without him on the roster. It just make the need dire. And maybe that's what we need in order to finally get the personnel we need at that position. The draft allegedly has many prospects at the position.
