im predicting hobbs has a major breakout year next year... he will open the year as one of the two starting corners, and will end the year as our top corner, samuel or not.

who do you think will step up a notch?

lol... if he plays in 5 games, that'd be a MAJOR breakout!

Ben Watson.

I predict a Pro Bowl season for Mankins and Wilfork.

Just you watch.

i could see that; i think they both could have gone this year.... but the probowl, like all allstar games, goes more off reputation than level of play

I think Hobbs will continue to improve. I'm sure he'll have a breakout year. What I'm hoping for is more consistency.

Ok, let me correct myself.

Wilfork and Mankins will have Ty Warren-like seasons next year.

i.e. we will all be shocked when they are NOT elected to the Pro Bowl, because they were clearly one of the best at their positions.

Warren, Wilfork, and Mankins played at a pro bowl level in 06 and if the pro bowl was on performance they would have been there not Seymour or Light.

Didn't read far enough you made the correct correction. :p

I expect Maroney, Watson, Jackson and Thomas on offense will have one more year in the system and will be that much better. If O'Callahan is healthy I think he could be a great RT for us.

On defense we have so many Vets that Hobbs is the player who stands out. Which is why we need a shot of youth on this side of the ball.

2006 - New England was #2 in lowest passer rating and #1 in in lowest passing TDs.

- Hobbs started 9 games and played in 15 with 46 Total Tackles, 2 INTs, and 6 PDs.
- Samuel started 15 games and played in 15 with 62 Total Tackles, 10 INTs, and 24 PDs.
- Scott started 9 games and played in 14 with 44 Total Tackles, 2 INTs, and 5 PDs.

You might note that Samuel, who played in the same number of games as Hobbs, has half again as many tackles, 5 times as many INTs and 4 times the PDs. Either Samuel is just a stud and Hobbs a JAG, or Hobbs is the shutdown corner and Samuel the "softer" target, or Hobbs is the shutdown corner and Samuel the veteran gambler who gets burned a bit more, but makes more "big" plays. The last possibility matches up best with a team that finished the season #2 in lowest passer rating and #1 in lowest passing TDs. I'd say Hobbs breakout is old news. Additionally, LCB (the Offenses right) tends to be the #1 CB playing on the side of most QB's dominant hand. Hobbs started the season there, Samuel finished there, but we need to remember which one split time with Scott while playing with his hand in a cast.

I could see Hobbs having a break-out yeat. I think he would've had a very good year this year if it had not been for the wrist injury. He had some confidence issues as well, as we all know, but I think those, too, stemmed from the injury.

offense I agree with Makins,he is a pitbull of the ol....I think Sanders is going to improve and he is replacment to Rodney....I have heard this guy works on his game with alot of heart and being mentor to Rodney how can you go wrong....

This is an easy one...CHAD JACKSON ,BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As long as he doesn't play against big/physical WRs.

His size will always make him a #2 CB.
