Historically players have always either looked for the warm weather, big dollars and many other reasons why NE wasn't destination #1. Now though its become obvious both veterans and young guys want to come and play for BB. Armstead and Demps were both very desired UDFA and they both picked NE. Veterans have been coming here for years now hoping to get the elusive SB ring.

With that said when talking about what it's worth to retain players like Welker, Talib and Vollmer if they aren't willing to sign with us under a deal that is good for all included do we really want them here? This is a place where you have a chance to win every year I cannot name many other places like that for a NFL player.

of course they want to play here. We are in the playoffs every year and right there at the end 85% of the time. No other team can really say that of late besides SF and Balt the past 2 years

I'd name GB, NYG, BAL, as perennial contenders plus the strongest sustainable newbies DEN (recent), SF (recent), SEA (recent), WAS (recent), IND (was perennial, now recent after a 1 year hiatus and a newbie at QB)

The Squealers just fell off the perennial list

Were I a player confident of my abilities to improve a team and wanting a ring i could feel pretty good about signing with any of those teams

remember when keyshaun said no one wanted to play for the pats because they didn't pay? And then they paid moss 10 mill a year :D

The thing is though that some players have so much of an ego they think that they are the difference that turns a loser into a winner. See Williams, Mario among others.

It is also a first class organization, these players have seen the other side. Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick make it a positive place to play for professionals and the players talk to each other.

He didn't think he could turn them into winners. He just took the money. Hell he would have left the NFL and went overseas if they paid him a 200 mill contract.

WTH are you talking about ????? the JESTS have reached the SB 4 years in a row now............ :D

Most players want to play here because they know they'll be always be in the hunt for a SB and will be given a chance to get a big pay day.

It's like working for McKinsey -- you work really hard, it's interesting, you have a lot of responsibility, you learn a lot, and it looks good on your resume afterwards.
