What this defense needs is some Richard Seymour baby! Hes 33 years old, probably isn't going to demand huge bucks on the open market at this point in his career... maybe he would be up for coming to the Patriots for 1-2 years for a reasonable amount of money to try and help hoist another Lombardi! Hes not the player he was when we traded him, but he could certainly fill in and contribute along the defensive line next to Wilfork...

Im sure that would free up our linebackers and guys like Chandler Jones if we had Wilfork and Seymour back in the middle of the D. Maybe he would play for a couple million and not want the top dollar?

Fun to think about.

Dont get me wrong Id love bringing back his leadership, but Id rather have Desmond Bryant right now, much younger.

Ehh.... let this thread stay its own, its a bit different than mine.

I was linking to my post in that thread, a specific reply to the OP in which Seymour said he would not play for the Patriots again.

Richard Seymour would love to play for the Patriots for Tom Brady money.

From watching maybe two Oakland games each year , RS has Raideritis.......completely undisciplined

Maybe I missed something, but was there any indication of Seymour looking for Brady money?

Seymour would be a nice addition, but issues would have to be resolved and he'd have to take less money than I assume he's expecting. I'm not sure he'd be willing to do that for NE if other teams show interest.

**** Seymour is not what this defense needs, this team needs, not what Belichick wants on this team.
Patriots can do better filling that need.

I think there were some bridges burned on both sides when he was traded which likely can't be re-constructed - at least not for the amount of $ he's very likely looking for.

You can never say never but I just don't see it happening.

Seymour ain't walkin' through that door. Ditto Ty Law, Harrison, Bruschi, Brown, Vrabel, Dillon or any of the guys from back then.

I can only imagine the posts here when Brady is gone.

When it's time , it's time. No sense crying for what used to be.

Someday when it is written we will find out the details about what really transpired in the Bowels of Gillette to have gotten this guy a one way ticket out of town..

You will never see #93 in Patriots Uniform again..

Seymour is precisely what the Patriots defense does not need.

If you really want to win a game in January and early February, younger and faster is what is needed in the current NFL.

Seymour will be 34-years-old in October and is a far, far cry from what he was in the Super Bowl years. If you want Richard Seymour, trade up into the top 15 draft picks and take Ezekiel Ansah from BYU - 6'5" 285 speed rusher/mauler as a DE.

You'd use our first and second (to move up) to get to the mid-teens and maybe get a solid DE? And in the meantime, you don't want to sign a free agent who might be an upgrade to one of our defensive linemen.

Perhaps Seymour or another old vet can add more in January than ONE of Deaderick, Cunningham, Francis, Bequette, Forston, Love, Armstead or Vega. We not need to have Wilfork, Ninkovich and the kids. We can use another veteran.

Seymour is a proven commodity in this league and has been for a long time. Even at 34, he could still come in on a limited basis as part of a rotation and perform at a high level. I wouldn't want to pay him top dollar and rely on him being my #1 Dlineman that is capable of going for a majority of snaps, but as someone who could come in on a rotation along the defensive line he would excel at... He has been in big games in Janaury and February, hes been performing at a high level his entire career, so its not at all far fetched to think he could provide some solid depth to our defensive line and help free up some of the linebackers and defensive ends to generate more pressure and control the line of scrimmage more.

I wasn't aware of some of his quotes regarding the Patriots, its unfortunate that it ended so poorly between the two because he would definitely be a nice addition if he came reasonably priced.

forget it., the ownership hates him, he hates the ownership. next.

Did you notice who won the SB this year? That alone contradicts this comment.
