Ever get so hooked on a prospect, that you were upset the Pats didn't pick them ?

For me it was Greg Hardy a few years ago. They definitely should have took a flyer on him in the 4-5 round.

I actually met Greg Hardy a couple weeks before the 2010 draft. Pretty chill dude. He was probably in town to meet with the Ravens or hang with Oher.

The one's I got right and will brag about are JPP, JJ Watt, Clay Matthews, Carlos Dunlap.

Not necessarily for the Patriots but just thought they would be good.

The ones I got waaaay wrong were Harrison Smith, BJ Raji, Crabtree, and Tyson Jackson.

A few. Words can't explain how bad i wanted lavonte david. Then there was corey liuget, jahvid best, and michael floyd.

Last year, it was Hightower. I was psyched when they took him.
Year before it was Danny Watkins. Shows what I know.
2 yrs before that it was Alphonso Smith so it's good that I am nowhere near the Pat's selection board.

J.J. Watt for me. Though, to be honest, I never expected the Pats to lay a finger on him.

janoris jenkins, george ioka and vontaze burfict

and 2004, was praying that steven jackson fell to #32

Xavier Rhodes for me this year

Every April.

Philly usually snags my binky every year - Stewart Bradley, Brandon Graham, Danny Watkins etc.

Last year it was Kendall Reyes who was available in the 2nd round. I've been a Tavon Wilson 'hater' ever since.

JJ Watt. But that doesn't really count since he was gone. I guess we could have traded up. But that would have required a trading partner that wasn't demanding a king's ransom. Not a given.

The one that really hurt was Brooks Reed. But apparently BB just absolutely had to have Ras-I Dowling instead.

Danny Watkins
I know I mentioned Aldon Smith, Watt, and Barwin earlier in this thread, but this is a great example of a guy that I really wanted and completely missed on.

Same here, though I get the feeling that he'd thrive under Scar, here's hopin Philly cuts him and we kick the tires.

The most recent for me was DeMarco Murray. Thought he was a great fit and value where he was taken. Of course it helps I'm a OU homer....

Ya, my binkies usually bust or are Jags, so I'm able to get over it. I liked Vinny Curry a lot too and so far I don't believe he's shown much.

I loved Aldon Smith and I think it was a no brainer that he was a stud and would be out of reach. I came around on JJ Watt but I was a skeptic for awhile thinking he may not be stout enough as a 3-4 DE, which the Pats were playing at the time. At the time I had no idea how stout and powerful the guy is.

JJ Watt

And Robert Woods this year

I am really hooked on WR Tavon Austin of West Virginia. I really feel, if the Pats don't sign Welker, this guy would be the perfect replacement. He is truly a Swiss Army knife. 225 catches the last 2 years, a great return man, can run out of the backfield as a RB, just a perfect pick for the Pats. He would add such a great speed element as well. The fact that he's be a perfect pick for the Pats, scares me, because Belichick never picks what the scouts and fans feel is perfect for the Pats.

I was a big fan of Desean Jackson a few years back, and of course, he turned out to be as good as I thought he'd be. I think Austin can be even better, due to the RB factor. I'd be very disappointed if the Pats don't pick him.

You guys and gals ever feel the same way about a prospect and the Pats bypassed them ? Who was it ?

Well Scott, you won't have to worry about the Pats not selecting Tavon Austin. He's going to go higher now. 4.25 AND 4.31 wow!

Not quite the same. But, to answer your question. It's John Elway for me. Same age as me. I was in the service and heard about what a great prospect he was. Joel Buschbaum said he was the best qb prospect evah! Looking forward to watching the Pats build a good team. Only saw him play once. Had the NFL cancelled the 82 season. They were a couple of days from doing so. The draft would have reverted to the order of the previous draft when we were 2-14 and picked first overall. Kenneth Sims.

2003- Willis McGahee
2004- Steven Jackson
2006- Manny Lawson, Tamba Hali, DeMeco Ryans, Mathias Kiwanuka
2007- LaRon Landry, Jon Beason
2008- Vernon Gholston
2009- Robert Ayers, James Laurinaitis, Rey Maualuga
2012- Mark Barron, Quinton Coples, DeVier Posey, Russell Wilson, Devon Wylie, Fletcher Cox

Stephen Hill for me.

Seeing the Green Beans pick him made me very upset. I hope he does well, just not against the Patriots.

I'm sure there will still be teams worried about Austin's size, therefore pushing him down the list somewhat. I'm just hoping if he's there, and if the bigger WR's the Pats seem to like are gone, they take a chance on him at #29. I've never been so excited about someone being a perfect pick for that Pats than Tavon Austin. He's exactly what they need. Especially if they lose Welker and Edelman.

Btw, I was a huge Bucsbaum fan, met him at the 1981 draft. Not only was he a great talent evaluator, he was a really nice guy who helped put Pro Football Weekly on the map. I miss his draft guides, he was way better than Mel.

Passing on Dunlap really hurts. Especially since we drafted Cunningham one spot ahead of him and happened to play the same position as Dunlap AND happened to come from the same college.
