Why? If she can kick and if she can take hit should be the only criteria (and lets face not all male kickers can take the hit).
If she is better kicker than the 32nd best kicker in the league than she belongs.

Haven't we already lowered the standards in enough American institutions to put women on "equal" footing with men? The military, the fire department, and be list goes on. Why do they need to play in the NFL too. It's a physiological fact that men, at their peak, are bigger, faster, and stronger than a woman at her peak. These are world class professional athletes on that field whose bodies are built to take that kind of punishment. That being said, how long before a field goal is missed or blocked, there is a return, and the return man, seeing a woman in his path that wants to be on equal footing as him, runs her over like he would a man? Society would cringe watching that, it would be all over the news, and pretty soon networks like ESPN will begin discussing whether or not rules changes should be made to protect the kicker in the wake of this incident.
Further, women are involved in sports such as soccer, basketball, and hockey to name a few. The difference is that they have their own leagues and don't play with the men. I'm perfectly fine with that. I would never watch it, but some people would. Why does the NFL need to be any different? And this isn't touching the locker room subject, which is completely ridiculous in and of itself.
